                The Verdict is In, and
*'Night of January 16th' *
                  is a Guilty Pleasure
        at Western Reserve Playhouse


Director Brian Westerley plays up both the controversy and the comedy of
the situation, resulting in an entertaining evening at the theatre. He has
also cast the show with colorful and quirky character actors who would all
be right at home in an episode of "Law and Order."


Arresting actress Beth Gaiser leads the ensemble as the woman at the middle
of the mystery, commanding attention both on the stand and at the defense
table. Meg Hopp and Dan Colaner expertly go head-to-head as rival
attorneys, whether they are pleading their case to Tom Stephan or Scott K.
Davis, who alternate as unflappable Judge Heath.


Elizabeth Allard and David Hundertmark make a lasting impression bring the
deceased man's family members, as do the wary, world-weary, and whimsical
witnesses including Harriet DeVeto, Sally Suren, Ron Young, David Hess,
Barry Wakser, Patrick Wilson, Irv Korman, and Walt Kaminski. Particularly
peculiar -- and a lot of fun to watch -- are Marc Dusini as a bumbling
bailiff and Kayleigh Joyce as an easily distracted stenographer...
