Beck Center for the Arts in Lakewood, Ohio, seeks a Scene Shop Carpenter/Technical Assistant. This position is a full-time salaried position with benefits.


POSITION SUMMARY:


 Under the direction of the Technical Director (TD), the Scene Shop Carpenter/Technical Assistant is responsible for assisting in the construction and implementation of the scenic designs for all Main Stage, Studio and Children's Theater productions that the Scene Shop services. The Scene Shop Carpenter/Technical assistant is integral in the proper maintenance of the shop and support spaces, and should show the ability to complete assigned tasks and duties without direct supervision.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, construction and implementation of scenic designs using theatrical set construction techniques, ability to be on-call during performance weekends as needed, as well as a strong ability to work in tandem with the TD and complete assigned tasks on time.


QUALIFICATIONS:


1. Physical ability to lift 75 pounds.

2. Demonstrated knowledge of theatrical sheet goods and materials including, but not limited to, plywood, luan, OSB, MDF, Masonite (hardboard), and acrylic sheeting.

3. Demonstrated knowledge of theatrical construction techniques.

4. Ability to follow through on completion of projects within determined deadlines.

5. Problem solving skills/Critical thinking.

6. Demonstrated knowledge of general safety regulations and rules.

7. Some flexibility in work schedule.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:


1. 2-3 Years of experience in the field preferred.

2. Basic knowledge of theatrical lighting equipment preferred.
