Free Community Open House Celebrates 100 Years of Cleveland Play House

As part of their Centennial Celebration Weekend October 23-25, Cleveland Play House is hosting a FREE Community Open House on Saturday, October 24. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. with events running from 11 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Open to the public and fun for all ages, the Community Open House is a great opportunity to explore how theatre is made. There will be fun activities, demonstrations, performances, and of course-cake!

Local Theatre Expo
Explore the vibrant local theatre scene with booths from 12 different companies and organizations.

Classroom Matinee: No Silly Season and Kicked! -
These plays for K-8 school children are part of our University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital Classroom Matinee: A Touring Program.

ShakesBEER!: Hamlet, Twelfth Night, and Much Ado About Nothing -
NYC's Original Shakespearean Pub Crawl, brings the Bard to the bar (and lobbies) of the Allen Theatre in these brief, interactive scenes celebrating CPH's most-produced playwright.

The CPH Centennial Plays
10 decades, 9 playwrights, 50 minutes! A performance of new short plays inspired by CPH history, from our Playwrights' Unit and other local writers.

Scenic Painting, Quick Change, and Wig & Make-up Demonstrations by CPH artisans

CWRU/CPH MFA Cabaret Performances

"The Road to 100" panel discussion
Discover defining moments in CPH history with panelists Diane Dalton, Roger Danforth, Dean Gladden, Peter Hackett, and Estelle Painter. Moderated by CPH Managing Director Kevin Moore.

"Producing History: The CPH Founders and their Scrapbooks"
A unique glimpse into CPH's early history, drawn from 108 scrapbooks kept by the Women's Committee. Presented by Melissa Hubbard of the CWRU Kelvin Smith Library.

Backstage Tour: The Crucible

See-and BE-part of CPH history! See memorabilia, and record your memories for our digital archives thanks to CWRU's Kelvin Smith Library.

Kids Zone
An activity fair for ages 10 and younger. Interactive displays, puppetry, face painting and more!
