             COSTUMED CAROLERS ADD NOSTALGIC WARMTH TO LOCAL EVENTS
The Broadview Heights Spotlights’ Costumed Carolers have beenentertaining around the Greater Cleveland/Akron area for the past 15 years.Founder Annette Phelps says she could not be more pleased with how the grouphas grown and how well it is received. “Many of our engagements are repeatcustomers, and they look forward to our nostalgic addition to their event,”said Phelps. “We make our own costumes which are reminiscent of the Dickens erawith its colorful plaids, full skirts, capes, bonnets, and top hats." "We are so cute that people are always taking photos OF us and WITH us," she added.
The group is directed by the talented Tim Anderson, who also dons a tophat and sings bass. "We are fortunate he is able to continue as director this year and I hope to sing with him for many years to come," said Melanie Hauer, along-time member.

Karen Johnston, another long-time member and one of the costume seamstresses, said, “We have a core group that has been singing for many years. We add new members every year which allows usto perform as either a large choir, or in smaller groups at different venues onthe same day.”This harmonious group has performed at a variety of venues including theDisney Train Tour (Cleveland stop), the Cleveland Playhouse Festival of Trees, theHorseshoe Casino, Great Lakes Brewery, Great Northern Mall, the Cleveland Aquarium,West Side Market, etc. In addition, they have added a touch of class to many businessopen houses, community events, care facilities, church services, and privateparties. “Sometimes we are hired to perform a concert (i.e., care facilities),and other venues prefer background music and a live Christmas decoration,” saidRenee DeSantis, who sings alto in the group along with her daughter Marissa. “Eachvenue is different and we accommodate the host or hostesses’ wishes”.The Broadview Heights Spotlights Community Theater is a tax-exempt, non-profitorganization, and monies raised by the caroling group help fund the Spotlights’educational purpose and facility expenses.The Spotlights Carolers are now booking for the 2015 holiday season.
