[NEohioPAL] Temple Israel, Canton, OH Seeking Cantorial Soloist

Temple Israel is looking to fill the* Cantorial Soloist* position for the
2016 High Holidays. The soloist will work closely with the choir
director/pianist during rehearsals and services. While much of the music is
sung with the choir and congregation, there are often times in the service
where the soloist will be required to sing alone both a capella and
accompanied.

Please see below for the desired qualifications:

-Ideally, the soloist will be Jewish, familiar with the structure and
liturgies in the service
-Seeking a tenor, although willing to consider sopranos as well
-Must be comfortable leading a congregation in music alongside the Rabbi in
a Reformed Jewish setting
-Must possess a high degree of musicianship and professionalism
-Degree in vocal performance preferred


Rehearsal schedule TBA, but is typically one rehearsal a week in August,
then 3 or 4 additional rehearsals in September (about 8 total 2 hour
rehearsals, subject to change).

Service dates listed below:

10/3/16: Erev Rosh Hashana (evening service)
10/4/16: Rosh Hashana (morning service)
10/?/16: Kol Nidre (evening service)
10/12/16: Yom Kippur (all day service)

While the rehearsal/service time commitment is nominal, the soloist will be
expected to spend a great deal of time on his/her own preparing the music
so that rehearsals run smoothly and efficiently.
