[NEohioPAL] Cleveland Play House/Playhouse Square casting all-female on-stage band for STEEL MAGNOLIAS

Cleveland Play House (CPH), in association with the Playhouse Square Broadway Series, is casting women who both sing and play an instrument to be part of an on-stage band for Steel Magnolias, directed by CPH Artistic Director Laura Kepley. All positions are paid.

Singer/Musicians: (F, 20s-40s. Any ethnicity)
Two singer/musicians to provide the show's 'soundtrack,' inspired by the music from Truvy's shop radio. They should feel like women who would be Shelby's friends. Possible instruments include strings like guitar, mandolin, banjo, and fiddle; as well as saxophone or trumpet. Indigo Girls, Sheryl Crow, 80s pop.

Singer/instrumentalists may begin music rehearsals as early as May 10th. They join the production for Tech Rehearsals from Tuesday, May 17th - May 21st between the hours of 12 noon and midnight. Preview performances begin Saturday, May 22nd with rehearsals continuing between 12-5pm during previews. Opening Night is Friday, May 27th, with performances running Tuesday-Sunday until August 21st.

Auditions are by invitation. Those interested in auditioning should submit the following, with the subject line "Singer/musician," to casting at clevelandplayhouse.com<mailto:casting at clevelandplayhouse.com> no later than Monday, February 1st:


1)      1- Headshot or recent photograph

2)     2- Performance resume, including contact phone number

)     i 3- Video of one up-tempo and one slower song, no more than 1:00 in length each. If your instrument does not allow you to sing and play simultaneously, you may play one of the pieces and sing the other.  You may provide this video by:

a.      Including a link to YouTube, Vimeo, etc. in your e-mail

b.      Attaching a video file to your e-mail

c.      Attaching a link to a personal website which features appropriate video clips. (Audio-only clips are not acceptable.)
