*POSITION DESCRIPTION: *Director of the Superior Arts Youth Theater. Serve
as the chief producer/director/administrator of a well-established and
successful youth theater program in Marquette, Michigan. This position
involves all artistic and administrative aspects of the program, including
producing and directing stage performances, providing vision and
leadership, and managing day-to-day operations, such as
planning/scheduling, public relations/promotion, grant writing,
fundraising, supervising personnel, budgeting and reporting to the board. A
part-time employee is available to assist in various areas as assigned by
the Director. The Youth Theater Director reports to the SAYT Board of
Directors. Anticipated start date is June 1, 2016.

*QUALIFICATIONS: *Minimum qualifications include a substantial background
in theater, experience producing and directing shows with emphasis on
musical theater, administrative/management experience, and experience
teaching/working with children. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work
experience required.

*SALARY: *Commensurate with experience ($25,000-35,000). A two-week paid
vacation is included. No retirement plan or health care benefits are
offered.

*ABOUT SUPERIOR ARTS YOUTH THEATER: *Superior Arts Youth Theater (SAY
Theater) encompasses a long history of theater for youth in Marquette.
Formerly known as the Marquette Arts and Culture Center Youth Theatre
(2001-2011) and Lake Superior Youth Theatre (2011-2015), our youth theater
program has now formed its own corporation to which tax deductible
contributions may be made. Located in Marquette, Michigan, SAY Theater
serves the central Upper Peninsula of Michigan and is open to youth ages
3-18 years. SAY Theater produces a series of performances each year ranging
from variety shows and community event performances to full productions at
the historic Kaufman Auditorium, Northern Michigan University’s Forest
Roberts Theater, and the Lake Superior Theater Boat House. Our purpose is
to provide area youth with educational and performance opportunities,
technical theater experiences, and growth through acting, music, dance and
other performing arts disciplines while entertaining audiences with high
quality productions.

*ABOUT MARQUETTE:* The City of Marquette is located in the central region
of Michigan’s beautiful Upper Peninsula on the shore of Lake Superior. With
a population of 21,335, it is the UP’s largest community. In addition to
being a population center, it serves as the regional center for education,
art and culture, health care, recreation, and retail. It is the home of
