CASTING CALL: STAGED TABLE READ
Local writer/director Craig Knowles is holding a STAGED TABLE READING for in-development feature-length adult comedy entitled “Niagara” in order to refine the project and gauge public reaction.
CONTENT ADVISORYApplicants please note -- the script is an R-rated comedy containing adult sexual situations and language. The story is a good-hearted comedy, but the situations may be too frank for some.
ABOUT THE READINGLines need not be memorized, but simply acted from the page during the performance. All actors will be seated and mic’d during the performance. Applicants should have experience with comedy and/or theatre.
TIME COMMITMENT6-8 hours. An afternoon and evening. The afternoon will be the practice/feedback/direction reading, followed by the evening staged reading in front of a small audience.COMPENSATIONA small stipend, meals, refreshments, a DVD recording of the performance, and a lot of fun will be provided.
ROLES:
NARRATOR/HOSTReads the non-dialog portions of the script aloud -- action, descriptions, locations, etc.
FREDLate 30s. Oversexed middle-class husband. Leading comedic role.
CARRIEMid 30s. Fred’s wallflower wife. Is dearly in love with Fred. Co-leading role.
SUPPORTING FEMALE #1Reads for 7 warm and genuine supporting female characters ranging from 21 to 95 years of age.
SUPPORTING FEMALE #2Reads for 13 “rougher around the edges” supporting female characters 17-95 year of age.
SUPPORTING MALE #1Reads for 6 interesting supporting male characters ranging from 30-65 years of age.
SUPPORTING MALE #2Reads for 8 minor male characters ranging from 30-50 years of age.
