CLEVELAND PLAY HOUSE AUDITIONING AFRICAN AMERICAN FEMALES, AGE 21-30, FOR CLASSROOM MATINEE TOURING PROGRAM





Cleveland Play House (CPH) is seeking a Non-Equity African-American Female Actor, early to late 20s, for our unique Classroom Matinee Touring Program. This program brings live, professional theatre and theatre education programs to K-8 classrooms across Ohio, Pennsylvania and Michigan. Experience as a teaching artist is a plus, though not required. This position pays $480 per week.



A 20 week contract (August 15 - December 21, 2016) is available. Performances and related teaching takes place almost exclusively on weekdays, during school hours. Occasional overnight travel is required with housing and per diem provided by CPH. Performances may occasionally be during the evening or on weekends as well.



The actor will perform multiple roles, in two different, hour-long original productions. Actors should have strong command of voice and physicality, and ability to differentiate characters with minimal costume change.  In addition to performing, actors will conduct educational programs that accompany performances. Actors must also be able to lift 50lbs, have a valid driver's license, and pass a Federal Background Check.



Auditions are by appointment only, and will take place Thursday, June 30th, from 3-5:30pm, in CPH's downtown rehearsal studios. Audition Appointments will last 30 minutes.Actors should prepare two contrasting monologues of 1-2 minutes each, from contemporary plays. (Please no Theatre for Young Audience pieces.) You'll also be asked to talk about potential workshop ideas related to the themes of one of the Classroom Matinee plays.
