Aurora Community Theatre Presents

*BRIGADOON*

Lerner & Lowe’s much loved and delightful Broadway classic. A whimsical
tale about a love that transcends time.
Set in a magical Scottish village which emerges from the Highland mists for
just one day, once every 100 years.
Where life is simpler, untouched by the worries of the modern world

When: Auditions - Sun. Jan 15th 2017 from 6-9pm and
Mon. Jan 16th 2017 from 7-9pm,
Call Backs Mon. Jan 23rd 2017 from 7-9pm.

Where: 115 E. Pioneer Trail, Aurora, OH 44202

What to Prepare: Bring a current headshot and resume along with sheet music
in your key. Prepare 16-32 bars of the music. No acapella singing or taped
music. Be prepared to dance and read from the script.

Rehearsals: Will commence March 5th, 2017

Performance Dates: Fri. and Sat. evenings April 28th to May 20th.
Sun. matinees May 7th and 14th.

*CHARACTER INFORMATION*

*WOMEN*

Fiona MacLaren - Stage age 22-23, Soprano B below middle C to A, must be
able to dance well. Dance training a plus. Graceful and altogether lovely.
Bright, has a gentle sense of humor, and is completely frank and to the
point of being disarming. She must light the stage when on it. Her inner
beauty, her belief in love, and her openness about it are what attracts
Tommy. She must make plausible falling in love in one short day. Musical
numbers include: Waitin’ For My Dearie, The Heather On The Hill, Almost
Like Being In Love, From This Day On and Ensemble Numbers.

Jean MacLaren - Stage age 18-20, Choral work, lead female dancer, solo
work, strong ballet background a big plus. Attractive, shy, diffident. She
is betrothed to Charlie. Everyone needs to see why Charlie decided to “Come
home across the green” with her the moment she appears on stage. Must be
able to emote true feelings through her dance.

Meg Brockie - Stage age 20’s-30’s, Alto G below middle C to F, dance
training a plus. With Angus, she sells milk and cream in MacConnachy
Square. Strong comic supporting role for fun loving woman. Eager to find
love and enticing to Jeff. A real bowl full of life, love and fun. Musical
numbers include: Down On MacConnachy Square, The Love Of My Life, My
Mother’s Wedding Day and Ensemble Numbers.

Maggie Anderson - Stage age 18-20’s, choral work, strong dancer, ballet
training a plus, solo dance at funeral. She has a yearning for Harry. Her
love for him and her disappointment in it not being returned must be
plausible.

Kate - Stage age 20’s, Choral work, should dance well.

Jane Ashton - Stage age 20’s-30’s, choral work, being able to move is a
plus. Very attractive, though perhaps a little severe. She is engaged to
Tommy in New York. Can also be a part of Townsfolks.

*MEN*

Tommy Albright - Stage age early 30’s, Baritone Bb to F#, must be able to
dance well. Dance training a plus. Virile looking, with an attractive face.
He must show his questions and discomfort with his 1947 surroundings and
engagement; and his total attraction to and belief, in Fiona and the
miracle of Brigadoon. Musical numbers include: The Heather On The Hill,
Almost Like Being In Love, The Chase, There But For You Go I, From This Day
On and Ensemble Numbers.

Charlie Dalrymple - Stage age 20’s, Tenor D below middle C to G, must be
able to dance well. Dance training a plus. A sandy-haired youth who is
betrothed to Jean. Charlie and Jean are young lovers and when they are
together, everyone in the audience should be taken back by their “first
love” feelings. Musical numbers include: I’ll Go Home With Bonnie Jean,
Come To Me Bend To Me and Ensemble Numbers.

Jeff Douglas - Stage age 30’s, Choral work, should be able to move well.
Retiring and good natured. Comic actor. Jeff is skeptical of the world.
Loves his drink and his women, and can’t understand Tommy’s feelings that
it all should matter.

Harry Beaton - Stage age mid 20’s, choral work, strong male dancer. Dance
Training is a plus. Archie’s son. Slender and extremely sensitive looking.
Harry is deeply in love with Jean and learning. He knows he will never have
either living in Brigadoon. This terrible despondency leads to the tragedy
of the show.

Andrew MacLaren - Stage age 50’s, choral work, being able to move is a
plus, but not necessary. Father of Fiona and Jean. A hearty soul. Loud,
gruff and a bit pompous.

Archie Beaton - Stage age 50’s, choral work, being able to move is a plus,
but not necessary. A kind looking Scot who sells wool and plaids. Harry’s
father and is greatly concerned about his son’s well-being. He knows Harry
is troubled and longs to help him.

Mr. Lundie - Stage age 50’s plus, choral work, being able to move is a
plus. A quaint Scottish school master who is kind. His manner is entirely
benign and he speaks with a trace of emotion. He is the Donnie of
Brigadoon. Mr. Lundie is the keeper of “The Miracle” and the heart of and
soul of Brigadoon.

Angus MacGuffie - Stage age 30’s plus, solo and choral work. Sells eggs,
milk and cream in MacConnachy Square with Meg.

Stuart Dalrymple - Stage age 50’s, Tenor D below middle C to G, solo and
choral work, being able to move is a plus, Charlies father. Sells woolen
clothes in MacConnachy Square. Musical numbers include: Down on MacConnachy
Square.

Sandy Dean - Stage age 30’s and up, Bass clef C to D above middle C, solo
and choral work, being able to move is a plus. Sells candy in MacConnachy
Square. Musical numbers include: Down on MacConnachy Square and Ensemble
Numbers.

MacGregor - Stage age 30’s and up, Baritone Eb below middle C to Eb above
middle C, solo and choral work, being able to move is a plus. Sells candy
in MacConnachy Square. Musical numbers include: Down on MacConnachy Square
and Ensemble Numbers.

Frank - Stage age adult, chorus work, being able to move is a plus. New
York bartender. Can also be a part of Townsfolk.

2 Male Sword Dancers - Stage age 16 plus, choral work, solo sword dance at
wedding.

2 Male Bagpipers - Stage age adults, choral work if desired.

*ENSEMBLE:*

Singing Townsfolk of Brigadoon - Stage age 16 and up, choral work, being
able to move well is a plus.

Dancing Townsfolk of Brigadoon - Stage age 16 and up, dance training is
strongly desired.

Some of both singing and dancing ensemble will double as New York citizens.
All ensemble will be considered as Townsfolk.
