LEGENDARY BALLPARKS: AN EXHIBITION OF WORKS BY THOMAS WOODMANCOMING TO THE BASEBALL HERITAGE MUSEUM

The Baseball Heritage Museum announces the opening of The Ballpark – An Exhibition on the First Concrete and Steel Ballparks of Major League Baseball, including two presentations by the artist, on Saturday, December 3, 2106.

The exhibit will feature images by local architect Thomas Woodman, who uses 21st century technology to take viewers back in time.
In 2011, Woodman started recreating in 3D the ballparks that were the homes of the 16 original franchises that made up baseball's Major League as we know it today. All have disappeared from the built environment with the exception of Fenway Park in Boston, Wrigley Field in Chicago, and a portion of Cleveland's own League Park, whose former ticket office is now home to the Baseball Heritage Museum. Through Woodman's use of his architectural background and Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, the exhibit will be able to show visitors what these ballparks looked like when they opened over 100 years ago.
Woodman will make two presentations on the history and process behind the exhibit at the opening on December 3. First, he will give an overview of the ballparks at 11 a.m., then a talk on League Park specifically at 1 p.m.
The exhibit will remain on display through January 28, 2017 during Museum hours every Saturday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Limited edition prints also will be available during the run of the exhibit.  For more information, call the Museum at 216-789-1083 or visit www.baseballheritagemuseum.org.
The Baseball Heritage Museum is located in the Ticket House at historic League Park, 6601 Lexington Avenue, Cleveland, OH  44113, at the corner of Lexington and East 66th Street. Unmetered parking is available on the streets. Admission is free.
