Auditions for "On The 20th Century" with The Hudson Players
Sun, Feb. 12 & Mon, Feb. 13

The Hudson Players are holding auditions for the musical comedy "On The 20th
Century," Sunday, Feb. 12 and Monday, Feb. 13 beginning at 7 pm. Directed by
Dave Stebbins, auditions will be held at the Barlow Community Center, 41 S.
Oviatt St in Hudson. Performances: April 28, 29, May 5, 6, 12, 13, 14*, 19,
& 20. (*matinee)

In this classic screwball comedy, it’s nonstop laughs aboard the Twentieth
Century Limited, a famous luxury train traveling from Chicago, Illinois to
New York City. Love and mischief collide when down on this luck and bankrupt
theater producer Oscar Jaffee, the flamboyant sinking impresario with four
flops in a row, embarks on a madcap mission to cajole the glamorous Lily
Garland, a Hollywood star and former Jaffee protégé, into playing the lead
in his new (nonexistent) epic drama. But is the train ride long enough to
reignite the spark between these former lovers, create a play from scratch,
and find the money to get it all the way to Broadway? All the while there is
a rival producer to outwit, a wealthy religious nut, Oscar’s henchmen and
various passengers and crew members to add zest to the merry, madcap
journey.

Part operetta, part farce and part screwball comedy, the musical is great
fun for all. Nominated for 5 Tony Awards in 2015 for its Broadway revival
and winner of 5 Tony’s during its original run

Plenty of great roles and parts for actors of various ages and types.
(character listing/descriptions are available

The Hudson Players are an all-volunteer award winning, community theater.
All roles in our productions are always open to auditioners, with no
restrictions. Those auditioning will be asked to read from the script,
should have a brief song prepared (with music for the accompanist) and be
prepared for a brief movement exercise. Auditions usually last at least two
hours and while it is best to be there at the beginning, those with schedule
restrictions can come later. Those interested in working backstage, on sets,
lights, etc, are encouraged to come to auditions as well and fill out a form
letting the producer know their areas of interest.
