*Something Rotten- Shakespeare Workshop

If to be or not to be is the question, then the answer is to be at this
workshop!  Join the professional actors and teaching artist at Rubber City
Shakespeare as they teach your student all they need to know about the
Bard.  Morning classes will focus on classical acting technique, stage
combat and script analysis. Students will put those skills to use in
their afternoon rehearsal of *Hamlet*.  Experience the power of Shakespeare
in this one of a kind class. The class will perform on the last day of camp
at 6:30 PM at the home of Rubber City Shakespeare.

Travel in time and walk among the ancients with our fun-filled Greek Week.
Students will explore the origins of theater and re-imagine the classics
through play-writing, acting technique and mask making.  Your child will
create an original work in the Greek style of drama.  Move over Percy
Jackson--there are some new Rubber City Kids in town! The class will
present their original work on the final day of camp at 6:30 PM at the home
of Rubber City Shakespeare.





*Musical Theater Performance Classes*

*Rubber City Shakespeare and Spotlight on the Arts are partnering to create
a brand new theatrical experience.  Our senior company will have intensive
technique training in the morning in dance, music and theater and will put
that technique to work in the afternoon as they rehearse for a fully
produced show.  Our mini company will join in the afternoon for
rehearsals.  Students will work with some of the best talent in Northeast
Ohio as they train with a professional Director, Voice teacher and Dance
Instructor.  This fun and creative environment will nurture each performer
at their level and challenge them to become better at their craft.  This is
a great class for beginners to experts! Our summer stock company will
perform a fully produced musical on the last day at the home of Rubber City
Shakespeare in Downtown Akron.  *

Look at that baby go! You and your baby will explore the world around, as
your baby works on large motor development and fine motor skills.  We will
dance, sing and play….the best part it, it’s all done together!  This class
is based on children’s literature with the goal to bring stories to life.
Children will learn through music and the importance of rhythm as
pre-reading skills with mommy and our experienced instructor.

This four day energetic and exciting dance intensive is intended for the
intermediate/advanced dancer grades 5 and up and is designed to give
dancers the opportunity to fine tune their technique and experience
choreography and technique classes from Master Teachers.  Each day will
include ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and musical theatre. Students will shine
at the end of the week performing in a dance concert for their family and
friends!



*PINKALICIOUS Dance Camp

This five day camp is based on the children’s book Pinkalicious! Students
will be taught by Pinkalicious herself in this fun and interactive dance
camp. The week will be filled with tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop and musical
theatre, crafts, fun and everything PINK! Students will perform their
Perfect Pinkalicious Performance at the end of the week for parents and
friends!

Join the real Moana and our instructor in this musical theatre based camp.
Create a story through crafts, musical theatre and dance instruction
inspired by the movie Moana! We use our bodies, voices, and imaginations to
join Moana as she searches Polynesia for a fabled island and mysterious
secrets! A performance will take place on the last day of class!

Turn your attention to the center ring as your child’s imagination begins
to soar. This class is for the budding young performer, they will dance
like a ballerina on the high ropes and dramatically tame the lion in the
center ring. Our circus participants will hear stories, sing songs, engage
in dramatic play and work on balance and coordination. Your preschooler
will jump at the chance to imagine and grow! Spotlight on their imagination!

*This camp is *By audition only* (there is no cost to audition)*

*Auditions will take place on May 20 from 1-4p.m.*

*Please prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre song.*



Sing and dance with this new outreach program at Spotlight. Our
dancers/singers will perform once a month at area community events. They
will share their talents and gain experience. Your child will spend a week
learning the routine and a year performing! Each member will receive a
t-shirt and a show choir costume to wear throughout the season. Program fee
includes camp and costume.
