Stocker Arts Center to Host Jonathan Kingham and Ryan Shea Smith in Concert

The Stocker Arts Center will host Jonathan Kingham and Ryan Shea Smith in concert at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 19 as part of the Random Acts Series<https://www.lorainccc.edu/stocker/event-categories/random-acts-series/> in the Hoke Theatre at Lorain County Community College.

With diverse musical styles ranging from folk, pop and jazz to R & B, a Jonathan Kingham and Ryan Shea Smith concert is all about the music. Kingham wrote his first song in 1996, "A Place Called Home." Since then, he won first place in The Unisong International Song Contest, has twice placed in the top five of the John Lennon Song contest, won first in the USA Songwriting Competition in the folk category as well as the Overall Grand Prize out of 33,000 entries, and was awarded first place in the gospel category of the ISC songwriting contest. His singing has been featured in films, soap operas and on the show "Felicity." Based out of Nashville he splits his time between touring the country and writing, recording and producing. He has toured with such diverse acts as Julio Iglesias Jr. and Glen Phillips of Toad the Wet Sprocket. In addition to his solo career, Kingham currently plays keyboard and steel guitar for Toad the Wet Sprocket.

Seattle native Ryan Shea Smith is also a veteran songwriter and recipient of multiple songwriting awards. His musical skill has been honed through jazz studies at the University of Washington and a steady touring schedule. He is known for his incomparable singing voice and has an impressive command of keyboard and guitar. Smith's sophomore release "Stay Awhile" is a John Lennon song contest winner.

LCCC Early College High School students and alumni who will take part in the songwriting workshops that week will perform with the duo. Additionally, 8-year-old Avery who will also take part in the songwriting workshop will return to the stage with her mother, Tori Lambert. The Elyria second-grader was called onto the stage at a recent St. Jude Jam benefit and entertained the group with her sing-along with Chris Janson. She plans to share a song she wrote about best friends.
