KID COMPANY presents HAIRSPRAY JR.

Registration is now open for this exciting new edition to the 2017 season





Mercury Theatre Company is pleased to announce HAIRSPRAY JR. as its 2017 KID COMPANY offering. This unique half-day workshop will present HAIRSPRAY JR. in one special performance, August 12, on the set of the Mercury Theatre Company’s August production of HAIRSPRAY. Designed for students ages 8-12, the program is a three-week intensive workshop, July 24 – August 11, in which students will expand and hone their theatrical skills in a creative and safe environment.



KID COMPANY’s HAIRSPRAY JR. workshop allows you to explore your inner actor while gaining valuable life skills in a positive, supportive environment. Professional actors from the 2017 MTC Company will lead daily workshops designed to instill a deeper understanding about producing and participating in a first-class musical.



It's 1962, and spunky, plus-size teen, Tracy Turnblad, has one big dream – to dance on the popular "Corny Collins Show." When she finally gets her shot, she's transformed from social outcast to sudden star. In balancing her newfound power with her desire for justice, Tracy fights to dethrone the reigning Miss Teen Hairspray, Amber von Tussle, and integrate a TV network in the process. With the help of her oversized mom, Edna, and guest DJ, Motormouth Maybelle, the rhythm of Tracy's new beat just might prove unstoppable.



Tuition for KID COMPANY is $250, and includes a ticket for opening night of HAIRSPRAY on August 4. Sibling discounts & extended care are also available. Space for KID COMPANY 2017 is limited to 32 actors.
