[NEohioPAL] Auditions at CVLT

Chagrin Valley Little Theatre is holding auditions for the 3 actresses portrayed in Eleemosynary by Lee Blessing. The play focuses on the lives of three women: seventy-five-year-old Dorothea; her middle-aged daughter, Artie; and Artie's sixteen-year-old daughter, Echo. Grandmother Dorothea, an admitted New Age eccentric, has complicated the lives of the two other women by imposing her thwarted dreams on them, which has alienated her daughter Artie not only from Dorothea but from Artie's daughter Echo as well. As the play begins, Echo is caring for Dorothea, who has just had a stroke. During the course of the play, Echo, who is a National Spelling Bee champ tries to bring the three women together through her knowledge of words, thinking she is the smartest person in the world. Blessing gives us glimpses into the lives of the three women as they struggle to define themselves both as individuals and as part of a family unit. In this poignant and mature study of familial relationships, Blessing highlights the human need for connection and forgiveness. Auditions are Tuesday June 13 and Wednesday June 14 at 7:00pm at Chagrin Valley Little Theatre, 40 River Street, Chagrin Falls. Show dates are August 11,12,18,19,20, and 25 at the RiverStreet Playhouse, our fabulous 65 seat black box theatre. Hope to see you there.
