MEMOIR-WRITING IN THE WOODS:

Retreat for Writers and Non-writers

Alynn Mahle, BA, MA, memoirist and English instructor, from Cleveland,
Ohio, teaches both experienced writers and non-writers foolproof ways to
turn life stories into meaningful memoir. Join us for productive ways to
record family memories at Bear Creek Farm Bed and Breakfast, 5504 State
Road, Kingsville, Ohio 44048. One-hundred-acre property near wine and
covered-bridge country.

Retreat begins the afternoon of Friday, September 8, through Sunday,
September 10, 2017 at 1 pm; fee for all class activities, supplies, and
meals on Friday night and Saturday lunch: $160. (Breakfast complimentary
for B&B and cottage guests only). Lodging costs are separate; also, evening
meal on Saturday, in the community, not included in package. See

are filled, registrations for workshop-only guests will be taken. Payment

smoke-free environment due to owners' smoke allergies.

Mahle encourages everyone to record family stories; to pass on values,
customs and events, this sharing is our most important legacy. She says,
“Your life is unlike anyone else's; no one has interacted with the same
people, in the same ways you have. It is a fingerprint, a unique set of
swirling experiences, owned by you.” Keynote Speaker Deanna R Adams is an
award-winning author. Her first book was Rock ’n’ Roll and the Cleveland
Connection (Kent State University Press, 2002). She recently published the
memoir collection Confessions of a Not-So-Good Catholic Girl.

Alynn J Mahle has been writing and publishing nonfiction and poetry for
more than twenty years, and has encouraged writing students for almost
