Weathervane Playhouse presents the hilarious farce, "It's Only a Play."
Waiting for the review is the hardest part.
AKRON - Weathervane Playhouse presents the first main stage production of its 2017-2018 season, Terrence McNally's hilarious It's Only a Play August 31 through September 17, 2017.  There's no people like show people in this hilarious comedy about the behind-the-scenes hijinks surrounding the opening of a Broadway play.  Show times are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.  Tickets are $10-$22 and are available by calling the box office at 330-836-2626 or by going to www.weathervanplayhouse.com<http://www.weathervanplayhouse.com>.

It's the opening night of The Golden Egg on Broadway, and wealthy theatrical producer Julia Budder is throwing a lavish party in her equally lavish Manhattan townhouse.  Downstairs, the celebrities are pouring in, but the real action is upstairs, where a group of insiders have staked themselves out in the producer's bedroom as they wait for the reviews to come in.

Included are the excitable author; the brilliant but unstable director (who courts failure and is devastated when his work is well received); the drug-snorting leading lady (who is hoping to revive her career after a series of flop movies); a fawning, hypocritical drama critic (who is a closet playwright); and the playwright's best friend, an egotistical but insecure comic actor who passed up a chance to star in the play for a television series - which has since been cancelled.
Associate Artistic and Marketing Director, Fred Gloor, directs this hilarious farce.

AUDIENCE ADVISORY: The play contains adult language and is therefore not suitable for young children.
