As someone who currently works at Tri-C, I wanted to clarify some of the things JZ cited. First, they are correct in stating Tri-C has been cutting expenses yearly, but in fact a significant amount of those savings have been redirected to student programs and financial aid-more than $5 million each year (Accreditation Systems Portfolio<http://www.tri-c.edu/about/accreditation/documents/2017-aqip-systems-portfolio.pdf>, p.97).

Also, the graduation number listed is outdated-Tri-C last had less than 3,000 graduates in 2012 (State of the College<http://www.tri-c.edu/about/documents/tri-c-times-state-of-the-college-2017.pdf>, p.10). For the last three years, the average number has been more than 4,100 graduates. And while the College does serve 55,000 credit and non-credit students annually, 62% are in technical job training courses<http://www.tri-c.edu/about/index.html>.

Probably the biggest point missed in the original post is that Issue 61 is very much focused on helping students. It will update facilities, technology and equipment so that students are prepared for the skilled jobs that are out there today. It's really about making sure that Tri-C has the facilities to do its core mission of educating everyone for good jobs.
