This Introduction to Lighting Design Class is designed to give people with all levels of interest an understanding of the craft and art of lighting design.   Topics covered will include the language of lighting, functions and properties of lighting, the parts of the lighting system, instruments 101, color mixing, and the lighting process (from script to design to hanging to cueing).

The class will also include a practical section for directors, actors, technicians, and designers. Included in this section will be such topics such as: “Finding your Light: how to make yourself look better on stage;” “Lighting Design, more important than you know: Why involving a lighting designer early in the process is critical;” “Getting your needs met: How to talk to a lighting designer;” “Lighting, the forgotten and underutilized design element: How to make your voice heard in production meetings and through the tech process.”

There will be hands on elements to this class.  Recommended items to bring include an 8” adjustable wrench (Crescent wrench), long pants, long sleeves or work gloves, and closed toe shoes (required). Wrenches and some gloves will be available for anyone that does not have his or her own.

Four consecutive Sunday afternoons. 8 full hours of en-LIGHT-enment!

November 19th thru December 10th from 2-4PM.

Cost is $150.

A Shakespeare Monologue class just for teens!

Shakespeare’s plays offer actors some of the richest roles in theatre, with characters that explore every facet of the human experience. This course introduces the skills an actor needs to tackle the unique demand of this richly rewarding, classical material. Students will delve into Shakespeare’s texts through script analysis, exploration of language, vocal work, monologues, and scene study. This class is an excellent way to prepare for auditions, colleges and to strengthen the core of acting.  Taught by our Artistic Director, Dawn Sniadak-Yamokoski. There is a limited class size to best help each student.

FOR THE FIRST WEEK, STUDENTS ARE ASKED TO MEMORIZE A 1 TO 2 MINUTE SHAKESPEARE MONOLOGUE. IT IS NOT IMPORTANT THAT THE CHARACTER BE THE SAME AGE OR GENDER AS THE STUDENT.

The cost is $60 per student.  Classes run Saturdays November 25- December 16, 2017 from 8-9AM

Ever wanted to learn the basics of acting? Do you enjoy art?  Do you love Minecraft? Well, Western Reserve Playhouse Young Artist’s Theatre wants to take you to your own world using the power of theatre arts. Your child will create a Minecraft themed costume head, plus be taught the basics of acting.  This is a quick and fun way to see if acting and art is for your child.
Ages 5-10
Class Size is limited so sign up today!
Class fee is $65.00.
