[NEohioPAL] Position of Artistic Director/Musical Conductor of Chagrin Valley Choral Union

The Chagrin Valley Choral Union is a non-auditioned group of classical music enthusiasts who meet Sunday evenings from 7:00-9:00 pm.  We are searching for a leader who will continue the great work of our past conductors, most recently Dr. J. D. Goddard, who has led us since 2005. 

1.	Duties and responsibilities
a.	Selection of pieces from the choral literature, which express the organization’s mission statement: To perform choral masterworks of the past and occasionally debut new works which replicate the style of these masterworks, for the enrichment of the community.
b.	Teaching and enabling singers to meet and exceed their musical goals through instruction, repetitive practice and example.
c.	Advising the Board of Directors as an ex-officio member, offering assistance on a variety of subjects, such as choosing concert venues, membership policies and fundraising efforts.
2.	Qualifications
a.	At least one year conducting a choral group of similar nature – knowledge and experience in a classical repertoire is required.
b.	Commitment to a weekly rehearsal schedule from the beginning of September 2018 to the beginning of May 2019.  These dates are an estimate based upon the 2 concert dates, holiday schedules, etc.  
3.	Salary and compensation
a.	The Artistic Director is compensated per concert, not by a monthly or weekly salary.
b.	Compensation will be determined for each individual candidate, commensurate with experience.
c.	Certain expenses can be reimbursed with the consent of the Board of Directors.
