Akron's most ECLECTIC and ELECTRIC open mic event returns to Aqueduct Brewing on Saturday, January 20th at 8 PM, inviting patrons and performers across the spectrum of artistic genres to: 

Congregate - as part of the #EPCooker community. 
Participate - in the interactive Inauguration Protest Station.
Celebrate - the artists that are reshaping Akron and Northeast Ohio.

Open to the public, there is a $5 cover charge or pay-what-you-can at the door.

The Zenith AWARD-WINNING Electric Pressure Cooker Cabaret is back for the new year, so get ready to congregate, participate and celebrate! This month's dynamic showcase featuring artistic talent and "ANYTHING GOES" fun will "happen" inside the historic Aqueduct Brewing <https://www.facebook.com/pages/Aqueduct-Brewing/445716669099319>.

Featuring the amazing vocals of Emcee Karlise Starr Brown, Aqueduct Brewing's fine craft cider and beer, and the "Inauguration Protest Station" – an interactive "station" where participants can privately express their opinion of the past year – this Electric Pressure Cooker is sure to turn up the heat on this cold January night.

Through humble beginnings in the basement of a Highland Square flower shop, the #EPCooker is an artist driven event that sees over 80+ audience members, 20+ performances and 5 non-stop hours of art.

Doors open and registration for performers begins at 7:30 pm with performances beginning sometime between 8:00 - 8:30 pm. Anyone may sign up for a 12-minute slot. An emcee, house drum kit, keyboard, stage, lighting and sound system (with operators) are provided. The environment is like no other open mic in the region.

ALL varieties of acts are encouraged to perform. Previous acts have included: monologues, acoustic musicians, comedians, feats of strength, play readings, debates, experimental art, dancers, scenes from plays, improvisation, devised work, full rock bands, storytelling and performance artists. But the sky is the limit; no art is too taboo for the #EPCooker!

ALL levels – from beginner to the most experienced – are encouraged to perform. Those under 18 are permitted to attend (and perform!) with adult supervision.

The #EPCooker is not just an open mic. It is an open and welcoming community of artists and advocates. It is also a great networking event, a great place to improve stage presence and a great place to develop as an artist. From comedians to full bands, many wonderful performers have premiered at the #EPCooker.

ABOUT THE EMCEE:

Karlise Brown better known as: Starr – is an actress and vocalist from Akron, Ohio. Starr has an extensive background in Theater, Musical Theater, and is the creator of The Starr Illumination Group Page <https://www.facebook.com/TheStarrIlluminationGrouppage/>, a performance network for creative artists. Karlise is also listed as an actress on the Internet Movie Database IMBD for her appearance in the movie "American Stories".
