Avenue Arts Marketplace & Theatre announces auditions for STRAIGHT WHITE MEN

SYNOPSIS: When Ed and his three adult sons come together to celebrate Christmas, they enjoy cheerful trash-talking, pranks, and takeout Chinese. Then they confront a problem that even being a happy family can’t solve: When identity matters, and privilege is problematic, what is the value of being a straight white man?

Auditions will be held March 13th and 14th from 7-9pm

All auditioners are asked to come prepared to cold read from the script. We also ask that you bring a current headshot and resume with you to auditions. 

Rehearsals will begin March 18th and will generally be held Sunday-Thursday. 

Show dates are May 11th, 12th, 18th, and 19th at 8pm and May 13th at 2pm.

CHARACTERS:

Ed (Male, 50-70) - father of the family; a family man; good-natured, well-intentioned, liberal, and a bit sad since the passing of his wife.

Matt (Male, 45-59) - politically and socially conscious and highly intelligent, but often uncomfortable in his skin; frustrated by the social expectations the world has for him; currently working a low-level temp job and living with his father.

Jake (Male, 40-45) - a very successful banker; confident; recently divorced.

Drew (Male, 35-40) - an award-winning writer and professor.

Person In Charge 1 (Any Gender, Age) - gender nonconforming individual of any age or race; calls the shots, no irony.

Person In Charge 2 (Any Gender, Age) - gender nonconforming individual of any age or race; calls the shots, no irony.
