ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Katelyn was bit by the “teaching bug” during her time pursing her
Bachelor’s Degree in Theater Arts at Cleveland State University. As a
teacher’s assistant she began to develop her own series Augusto Boal’s
Theater of the Oppressed workshops, which she still uses today. After
graduation, while working as a professional actor in the Cleveland area,
Katelyn taught theater classes and directed quarterly performances for the
East Cleveland Adult Activities Center. This transitioned her into the
Great Lakes Actor Teacher Program. For four years she toured North East
Ohio, working with grades K through 12 bringing literature to life ranging
from classic children’s stories to Shakespeare. As the Director of
Education and Outreach for Talespinner Children’s Theater, Katelyn has had
to opportunity to not only share her experience in the preschool through
high school classrooms, but has greatly enjoyed developing a Professional
Development Series, as well as honing her directing skills on TCT’s
Mainstage and with the touring production.
