PRIDE MONTH FILM SERIES AT THE CAPITOL THEATRE
Four films featured in second annual LGBT series

(Cleveland, OH) The Capitol Theatre (1390 W. 65th St., Cleveland), in partnership with the LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland, will present its second annual LGBT PRIDE MONTH FILM SERIES starting June 5th.

Featuring a selection of both narrative and documentary films, the Capitol Theatre is proud to bring these unique stories to Cleveland.

The films selected for this year’s PRIDE MONTH FILM SERIES are as follows:

THE CONSTITUTION
90 mins., Not Rated
Directed by: Rajko Grlić
Tuesday, June 5th, 7:30 PM
Summary: Beautifully directed by Rajko Grlić, THE CONSTITUTION navigates complex and sensitive subject matter with clarity and genuine contemplation. After being attacked on the street by a group of homophobic young men and women, a gay professor is cared for by a neighbor and her husband. THE CONSTITUTION won the Grand Prize of the Americas for Best Film in the World Competition section at the Montreal World Film Festival as well as the European Film Critic Award at the Pula Film Festival. (in Croation with English subtitles)

THE MISANDRISTS
94 mins., Not Rated (no one under 18 admitted)
Directed by Bruce LaBruce
Tuesday, June 12th, 7:30 PM
Summary: When an injured male leftist on the run discovers the remote stronghold of the Female Liberation Army -- a radical feminist terrorist group whose mission is to usher in a female world order -- one of the members takes pity on him and hides him in the basement. However, the man in the basement is just one of many secrets threatening to disrupt the FLA’s mission from within. Balancing sharp social commentary and salacious popcorn entertainment, iconic filmmaker Bruce LaBruce has created an experience that’s a blast to watch and just as much fun to dissect afterwards.

TORCH SONG TRILOGY (30th Anniversary Presentation)
120 mins., Rated R
Directed by Paul Bogart
Tuesday, June 19th, 7:30 PM
Summary: Harvey Fierstein stars in the big screen adaptation of his Tony-award-
winning play about a gay, Jewish man who goes through the same struggles of love, jealousy and self-doubt that affect us all. Co-starring Matthew Broderick and Anne Bancroft.

TO A MORE PERFECT UNION: THE U.S. v WINDSOR
90 mins., Not Rated
Directed by Catherine Gund, Daresha Kyi
Tuesday, June 26th, 7:30 PM
Summary: TO A MORE PERFECT UNION: THE U.S. v WINDSOR is a feature-length documentary that tells a story of love, marriage and a fight for equality. The film chronicles unlikely heroes -- octogenarian Edie Windsor and her attorney, Roberta Kaplan, on their quest for justice: Edie had been forced to pay a huge estate tax bill upon the death of her spouse because the federal government denied federal benefits to same-sex couples - and Edie's spouse was a woman. Deeply offended by this lack of recognition of her more than forty-year relationship with the love of her life, Edie decided to sue the United States government – and won. Windsor and Kaplan's legal and personal journeys are told in their own words, and through interviews with others of the legal team, movement activists, legal analysts, well-known supporters and opponents. Beyond the story of this pivotal case in the marriage equality movement and the stories behind it, the film also tells the story of our journey as a people, as a culture, and as citizens with equal rights.

20% of all concession sales during the PRIDE MONTH FILM SERIES will be donated to the LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland.

Admission is $9.75 for adults, $7.00 for seniors/children, $8.75 for students. Tickets are available at the theatre box offices or online at clevelandcinemas.com.
