The Brecksville Theatre AUDITIONS for Sweeney Todd June 28th & July 1st
Sweeney Todd – The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Directed by Mike Larochelle
Audition Times: Thursday, June 28 at 7:00-9:30pm and Sunday, July 1 at 1:00-4:00pm

Auditions will consist of individual vocal auditions and a group movement audition. Auditioners should bring a prepared song appropriate to the style of the show. Any Sondhiem song would be a solid choice, and songs from Sweeney Todd are welcomed. A full score for Sweeney will be available. If you choose to sing from a show other than Sweeney, please bring sheet music in the appropriate key. Readings from the script will happen at callbacks.

Callbacks (if necessary) are by invitation only at a time and date tbd.
Please bring all your conflicts between July 29 and September 30.
The First Company Meeting and Read-through will be from 1:00-5:00pm on Sunday, July 29.
Rehearsals (5 per week: Sunday 6-9 and Mon-Thurs 7-10) will commence on July 30.
Performances (9): Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm, September 28 – October 14
BRECKSVILLE THEATRE IS casting the following roles:
Sweeney Todd (late 30s - 50s) a wrongly convicted man who has returned to London seeking to right the wrongs committed against him and his young family. He is powerful, vengeful, intelligent, forceful, brooding and morose with a certain cynical charm. He must have a commanding presence.
Vocal range: Baritone - F2 - Gb4 Audition Song: My Friend and Epiphany
Mrs. Lovett (late 30s - 50s) an unscrupulous meat pie shop owner with a love for Mr. Todd who turns his desire for revenge into a profitable business venture for herself. She is talkative, cheerful, manipulative,
devious and ambitious. Great comedic timing is necessary.
Vocal range: Mezzo w/belt - G3 - E5 Audition Song: The Worst Pies in London and By The Sea
Anthony: (20s) a naive young sailor returning to London. He rescues Todd and unexpectedly falls in love with Johanna. Strong, brave and full of the joys of the world, he has yet to inhabit the cynical qualities of Todd.
Vocal range: Tenor - Bb2-F4.Audition song: Johanna
Johanna: (needs to appear 16-17) a high-spirited girl, full of innocence with a flirtatious and slightly unhinged demeanor. She is constantly yearning for freedom. Todd's long-lost daughter and Judge Turpin's ward.
Vocal range: Soprano - Bb3-A5 Audition Song: Green Finch and Linnet Bird
Tobias: (16-20s) a poor simpleton apprenticed to Pirelli who finds a surrogate mother in Mrs. Lovett. He is loyal, truthful and innocent to a fault with a heart of gold and a sharp eye.
Vocal range: Tenor - Bb2-Ab4. Audition Song: Not While I’m Around
Beggar Woman: (30s) an eerie, poor soul living on the streets of London. She is a deranged and schizophrenic woman who harbors a dark, surprising secret.
Vocal range: Mezzo - Ab3 - F5 Audition Song: No Place like London Measure 28
Judge Turpin: (50 plus) a lecherous, corrupt and evil public official who portrays himself as sanctimonious. He takes advantage of his position in the city and is responsible for imprisoning Todd. He lusts after Johanna.
Vocal range Bass - E2-Gb4. *Please note – the optional Judge's Song (Johanna / Mea Culpa) will not be included in this production
Beadle Bamford: (30s-50) a pompous public official, deeply loyal to Judge Turpin. He is eager, violent, unscrupulous and terrorizing.
Vocal range: High Tenor - D3-D5 Audition Song: Ladies in Their Sensitivities
Adolfo Pirelli: (30s-40s) An Irish charlatan and former employee of Todd’s who portrays the public persona of a flamboyant Italian master barber. He is crooked, calculating and conniving with a hot temper. A comedic role. Both Italian and Irish accents are required.
Vocal range: High Tenor - B2-C5 Audition Song: Pirelli’s Entrance
Male & Female Ensemble: A strong vocal and acting ensemble needed for this show. They act as a Greek Chorus commenting on the action and augmenting the story. Some of the roles they will portray include; Storytellers, Townspeople, Police, Lunatics and Customers. The Ensemble gets ample opportunity for vocal challenges and is showcased throughout.
Seeking all Vocal ranges, types and ages
Ideally, we would like to cast 17-21 actors for this production. We are looking for strong singer/actors who love the challenge of playing multiple roles.
