*The Musical Theater Project *is looking for exceptional teaching artists
to bring the joy of musical theater to elementary school students
throughout Northeast Ohio during the 2018-19 school year. Explore the
themes, stories and characters of classic musicals like *Peter Pan* and
*The* *Wizard Of Oz* through dance, song and creative play. Our critically
acclaimed *Kids Love Musicals!* program continues to grow, and we need
gifted teachers and performers willing to share their art and heart.
*Job Title: *TMTP Teaching Artist
*Reports to: *TMTP Executive Director
*Contract Period:* September 2018-May 2019 (school year)
*Hours: *Part-time, 2-4 days/week; 5-6 hours/day between 8am-3p
*Salary & Benefits: *$100/day + monthly mileage stipend; paid training and
professional development
*Function: *
· Deliver services related to *Kids Love Musicals! (KLM),* an
educational outreach residency and workshop program grounded in classic
musical theater and TMTP’s educational approach
· Provide feedback and information to assess and modify the program
as appropriate
*Responsibilities: *
· Work with TMTP staff and consultants to learn curriculum, songs,
and preferred teaching strategies and program outcomes; participates in
continued training as required by TMTP
· Implement KLM’s structured curriculum supporting: State of Ohio
curriculum standards in English Language Arts and theater arts; best
practices in intergenerational programming and special education
environments; and desired outcomes for Social and Emotional Learning
· Lead classes in Northeast Ohio schools through singing, acting
and dancing to explore the stories of five classic musicals:
"Cinderella," "Peter
Pan," "The Wizard of Oz," “The Jungle Book,” and “You’re A Good Man,
Charlie Brown.”
· Facilitate discussion in personally meaningful themes such as
overcoming inhibitions, achieving dreams, peer pressure, friendship, and
valuing individuals beyond surface appearance
· Arrive for scheduled programs on time and prepared; ensure that
programs are on schedule within allotted classroom times; work with
teachers to guide students in relevant and appropriate behavior/actions.
· Participate in self-evaluation strategies as requested; support
TMTP’s assessment objectives and practices for each residency or workshop.
· Communicate with TMTP staff regularly; consult TMTP’s calendars
and request necessary information from TMTP staff; track and report hours
and program results at the conclusion of each workday.
*Qualifications:*
TMTP Teaching Artists are:
· Mature, responsible and enthusiastic individuals who enjoy
sharing their passion with students, specifically in grades K-5, and
potentially with students in K-12 special education classrooms.
· Capable of independently leading exciting and challenging classes
that engage students and use multiple teaching strategies to deliver lesson
plans.
· Role models who build meaningful connections with students
through positive reinforcement, effective classroom management and clear
boundaries.
· Committed to the art form of musical theater and/or arts education
Additional qualifications:
· Demonstrated performance and singing experience
· Strong interpersonal and group facilitation skills
· Ability to meet performance standards including attendance,
reporting and punctuality
· Reliable automobile
· Successful completion of criminal background check process.
