[NEohioPAL] Akron Symphony Chorus to hold auditions in August

The Akron Symphony Chorus will hold auditions for the 2018-19 season on August 6 and August 13. Auditions are by appointment only.

Auditions will take place from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at The University of Akron's Guzzetta Hall, Room 354. Those auditioning for the Akron Symphony Chorus are also eligible to audition for the Akron Symphony Chamber Choir.

The Akron Symphony Chamber Choir is a select group from within the Akron Symphony Chorus that will perform additional works at certain Akron Symphony Chorus performances.

To audition for the Akron Symphony Chorus, you must meet the following requirements:


·        Prepare the music from Verdi's Triumphal March from Aida with the markings

·        Prepare from the Triumphal March mm, 25 through 53

·        Prepare the Italian pronunciation for the Triumphal March

·        Please have the markings in, the measure numbers in, and be able to sing it in Italian

To audition for the Akron Symphony Chamber Choir, you must meet the following requirements:


·        Prepare the music from Verdi's Triumphal March from Aida with the markings

·        Prepare from the Triumphal March mm. 25 through 53

·        Prepare the Italian pronunciation for the Triumphal March

·        Please have the markings in, the measure numbers in, and be able to sing it in Italian

·        Prepare Lux Aeterna from Nimrod with markings

Rehearsals are held on Mondays from 7:30-10:00 p.m. in the rehearsal room at The University of Akron's E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall, which is located at 198 Hill Street in Akron.

Chorus performances for the 2018-19 season include Verdi and Valkyries on November 16, Home for the Holidays on December 8, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban(tm) in Concert on March 2, Heroic Beethoven on April 6, and Fauré's Requiem on May 10.
