[NEohioPAL] AUDITIONS! Making God Laugh at Coach House Theatre

Coach House Theatre announces auditions for its 91st Season opener Making God Laugh by Sean Grennan. This heartwarming story follows a typical Catholic family through four holidays, each one a decade apart. Laughter, tears, love, hate, family, guilt, forgiveness intertwine in this amazing piece of theatre.

Auditions: Saturday August 18 2:00-4:00 pm and Sunday August 19 5:00-7:00 pm
Location: Coach House Theatre 732 W. Exchange St. Akron

Auditions will consist of cold read from the script

Rehearsals: Rehearsals will begin on or around August 22. Rehearsals will take place Mon-Thurs from 7:00-10:00 pm and Sundays from 4:00-7:00 pm, with a double tech Sunday Sept 16 from 2:00-8:00pm. Please list all conflicts on audition sheet.

Performances: Show runs Sept 21-23 and Sept 27-30 (Evening performances are at 7:30, Sunday matinees at 2:30)

Roles available:

Ruthie, the mother: Bossy, authoritative, tries to steer the world more than humanly possible, needles her family but truly and deeply loves them all. Begins show in her 40s/50s, ages 30 years

Bill, the father: Loves his family, ever the peace maker, easygoing. Somewhat intimidated by his wife Ruthie. Begins show in his 40s/50s, ages 30 years

Richard, the eldest son: Always looking for ways to conquer the world. Buys the latest everything, always in style. A good guy but living the "movie version" of a man. Misses the spotlight of being a football hero. Begins show in his mid to late 20s, ages 30 years

Maddie, the middle child and only daughter: Strong willed, aspiring actress who is the only one to leave the family's hometown. She has a difficult relationship with her mother. Begins in her mid 20's, ages 30 years

Thomas, the youngest son: The baby of the family and the "good" son. His mother's pride and joy, as he is studying for the priesthood at the top of the play. Funny, warm, easy going, much like his father. Begins in early 20's, ages 30 years
