We are so excited to announce all the wonderful new services at LYFA this
fall. Here is a quick reminder of all the awesome programs your child can
participate in right now!

*8 WEEK FILM SCHOOL*
A comprehensive film studies program specifically designed for kids and
teens ages 10-17,  LYFA's eight week program is designed to give your child
a crash course in how to create professional movies from start to finish.
>From screenwriting to lighting and sound, to camera work to editing, our
award winning instructors will guide your child through the creative
process and onto a journey of artistic expression using the cinematic arts.

*FRIDAY NIGHT FILM CLUB & FEMALE FILMMAKER FRIDAYS*
Female Filmmaker Fridays is an 8 week film club where female students
grades 8-12 interested in film and filmmaking are invited to the Lakewood
Young Filmmakers Academy to meet other women who work in the industry and
learn about a variety of topics pertaining to filmmaking.  There will be
presentations, speaker forums and opportunities for mentoring. The
intention of this group is to encourage girls to pursue the film and
television industry as a future career. Visit

LYFA Film Club invites both boy and girl students grades 8-12 to the
Lakewood Young Filmmakers Academy Friday nights from 7-9pm to talk about
classic and current films. Members are  assigned a movie to watch at home
each week prior to the discussion.   There will be one field trip scheduled
to the Cinematheque at the Cleveland Institute of Art to watch a classic
film and tour the projection booth. Visit

*TEEN AUDITION AND SCENE STUDY CLASS*
Taught by Bryant Carroll, a professional film and television actor whose
work can be seen frequently on such networks as Showtime, HBO, Netflix,
MTV, and NBC, this six week class students, ages 13-17, learn the do's and
don't of auditioning as well as the art of scene study. Students will begin
the first week with a prepared monologue. From there they will learn how to
command the room's attention, and create an environment. Students will
learn how to break a scene down to get to the heart of each scene. They
will also learn how to create the emotional arc that is needed to bring a
fully fleshed out character to life. Final scenes are taped each and
emailed to each student so that they can see what progress has been made.
This Class is limited to 10 students per 6 week session to allow for the

*AUDITION TAPING AND HEADSHOTS*
As an actor or model your headshot is your calling card. Whether or not you
land that big role begins with your headshot. It's the first thing a
casting director sees and they can make or break your chances of getting
called in to an audition or photo shoot. Don't let a bad photo give the
producers the idea that you are not serious about your craft. In this
