American Songbook Today -a 501(c)(3) non-profit - will present NYC’s concert
star, Marissa Mulder, in her multi award-winning show “Tom Waits: In His Own
Words,” a celebration of his songs, wit, and wisdom Monday, Sept 24th, 7PM
at Nighttown. Tom Waits wrote hits for Bette Midler (“Rainbow Sleeves” and
“I Never Talk to Strangers”), Bruce Springsteen (“Jersey Girl”), The Eagles
(“Ol’ 55), etc.. Also known for his frequent appearance on the David
Letterman Show. Ms. Mulder has appeared at Café Carlyle, Birdland, Carnegie
Hall, 54 Below, Joe’s Pub, Lincoln Center, Metropolitan Room, and Town Hall.
Stephen Holden, the New York Times revered critic recently wrote “Marissa
Mulder is a natural: a rarity among cabaret singers. You never hear her
struggling to tell a story or to make a point or to show off the range and
beauty of her sparkling, perfectly pitched soprano. Whatever she sings
seems to just spill out of her without forethought or calculation.” She is
the winner of several MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets) Awards and
Bistro Awards in NYC. Jon Weber, music director. Tickets $25 at
brownpapertickets.com. INFO: michaelsongbook at gmail.com
