Beck Center in Lakewood, OH is pleased to announce auditions for…

*SHREK the Musical*

Open Call Auditions by Appointment Only will be held on *Sunday, September
23rd* and *Monday,* *September 24th* at Beck Center. You may procure your
appointment by calling Beck Center at 216-521-2540 x10

*“Shrek”* is Beck’s Holiday offering this year, and runs from Dec. 7th thru
Jan, 6th on the Main Stage. Rehearsal process will likely begin in late
October.

All roles are available except the title role. They include Princess Fiona,
Donkey, Lord Farquaad as well as Dragon and MANY amazing character roles.
Role doubling is integral to the process, so all actors will have a good
deal of stage opportunity. Specific roles can be found below, although
doubling will be tbd.

There are Two AEA (SPT Tier Four) contracts, one of which will be used for
Shrek. The other contract will undoubtedly fall to one of the
above-mentioned characters. All non-AEA performers are also compensated for
their participation provided they are at least 18 years old.

*EMC points WILL be available for this production.* Actors can anticipate
10 weeks *EMC* for participation in *“Shrek”* which is nearly half of what
is required for AEA membership.

*PREPARATION*:  Please prepare one musical theatre selection not to exceed
90 seconds. Bring sheet music in your key. An accompanist will be provided.
Dance calls will occur as part of the callback process. Please try to
arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment time slot to fill out a brief
audition form. Resume’ and Headshot are requested but not required.

*ROLES:*  With the exception of two children’s roles, the appropriate age
range for this show is 16 to 50. As previously mentioned, most of the
Ensemble is double if not triple cast (other than Shrek, Adult Fiona,
Donkey and Farquaad)

*ROLES*

·         Shrek (an Ogre)  {*This role has already been cast*}

·         Adult Fiona (20 to 30) Mezzo w/ strong upper range. Spirited and
confident. Definitely Shrek’s match.

·         Farquaad (30 to 45) Bari-Tenor  {Actor spends entire show on
knees so must be in good physical condition!}

·         Donkey (20 to 40)  Bari-Tenor w/ strong upper range. Great
comedic ability.

·         Dragon/Doubling  (20 to 50) Gospel belt

·         *Ensemble*: {Includes} Gingy/Sugar Plum Fairy, Pinocchio, Big Bad
Wolf, Three Little Pigs, White Rabbit, Fairy Godmother, Peter Pan, Wicked
Witch, Ugly Duckling, Three Bears, Mad Hatter, Humpty Dumpty, Grumpy Dwarf,
Elf, Mama and Papa Ogre, Three Blind Mice, Pied Piper, Young Shrek (age
range 8 to 12), Young Fiona (age range 8 to 12), Teen Fiona (age range 13
to 16), Knights, Guards, Rats, Bishop and Citizens of Dulac.

*This is not only an amazingly fun show to perform but carries many
wonderful features for the myriad character actors, including vocal solos.
