Seeking theatre artists with disabilities or special needs to perform all roles in the Wizard of Oz! This spring, a magical and touching celebration of the human spirit will unfold as St. Joan of Arc School, Chagrin Valley Little Theatre and the Penguin Project come together for the second annual Penguin Project Production. This year they will be presenting the Young Performer's Edition of The Wizard of Oz.  Founded by Dr. Andrew Morgan, the Penguin Project focuses on giving children with special needs the opportunity to experience musical theatre in all its glory. It provides a beautiful environment for children with and without special needs to work together to create an inspiring musical production.  All roles will be played by special needs artists, and every artist will have an age-leveled peer mentor who will work side by side with them on their role as a friend and a support.  Who can participateYoung artists with disabilities ages 8-22.  This includes children with learning disabilities, autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy,  intellectual disabilities, visual, hearing and motor impairment, and other neurological disorders. Production dates:  April 13th and 14th. Rehearsal dates: January and Mid February: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5:00.  Students may arrive anytime between 3:30 and 4:00 for rehearsal.  Rehearsals are starting this week, January 8th, but students may continue to join until Jan 22nd.  If you are planning on joining later this month, please let us know beforehand.  Mid February til April 1Additional rehearsals will be scheduled on Mondays and Wednesdays 3:30-5:00 to work on scenes of the play. The amount of rehearsals will be depend on the role the student is playing.April Students will be expected to attend 3 or 4 days a week during these last two weeks of rehearsal. Rehearsals and performance are heldat Olsavsky Center, St. Joan of Arc School, 498 E.
