CLEVELAND PUBLIC THEATRE (CPT) IS HIRING TEACHING ARTISTS
for SUmmer Session of brick CIty Theatre
DEADLINE April 12, 2019
CPT is seeking Teaching Artists for the summer session of their Brick City Theatre program. We are seeking interdisciplinary artists of all performance-related arts disciplines with experience leading youth and/or artistic projects. Theater experience is a plus. We are looking to build a strong core of artists who are dedicated to creating work to further racial and economic justice.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Brick City Theatre is an after-school and summertime theatre arts program for children ages 5-14 living in public housing, offered in partnership with the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA). Classes are held at four CMHA community centers: Lakeview Terrace, Woodhill Homes, Outhwaite Homes, and Riverside Park. Under the dedicated guidance of CPT Teaching Artists, children enhance academic and life skills as they develop their own plays and perform them for their community.

SKILLS REQUIRED
Experience in at least one theatre-related arts discipline (dance, drumming, singing, acting, creative writing, etc.)
Experience teaching children and/or teenagers.
Qualified to be a strong role model for inner city youth and/or teenagers.
Energetic, responsive, flexible, creative
Attentive to details, ability to work independently
Openness to learning new techniques in the creation of original performance material

CONSIDERATIONS
Programs run 8-10 weeks, 5 days per week, June-Aug 2019
Daytime and early evening hours
Extended days for training and program touring
Pay is competitive and commensurate with artist experience
Artist must have a reliable means of transportation.

Second Round: Applicants may be asked to attend a group work session on Monday, April 15th from 6:30-9:30. PLEASE HOLD THIS DATE. Considered applicants will be asked to prepare a 1-2 minute monologue of their choosing.
Applicants will be informed of status by April 26th.
