Avenue Arts Marketplace & Theatre announces auditions for CHARLOTTE'S WEB

Located at 324 Cleveland Ave. NW Canton, Ohio 44702

SYNOPSIS: All the enchanting characters are here: Wilbur, the irresistible young pig who desperately wants to avoid the butcher; Fern, a girl who understands what animals say to each other; Templeton, the gluttonous rat who can occasionally be talked into a good deed; the Zuckerman family; the Arables; and, most of all, the extraordinary spider, Charlotte, who proves to be “a true friend and a good writer.” Determined to save Wilbur, Charlotte begins her campaign with the "miracle" of her web in which she writes, "Some pig." It's the beginning of a victorious campaign which ultimately ends with the now-safe Wilbur doing what is most important to Charlotte. This is a beautiful, knowing play about friendship that will give your actors a great opportunity and your audience an evening of enchantment.

Charlotte's Web is produced by special arrangement with THE DRAMATIC PUBLISHING COMPANY of Woodstock, Illinois.

Auditions will be held on Tuesday, April 30th, and Wednesday, May 1st from 7-9pm
Callbacks (if necessary) will take place on Friday, May 3rd.

All auditioners are asked to come prepared to cold read from the script. We also ask that you bring a current headshot and resume with you to auditions. 

Rehearsals will begin on May 7th and typically run Sunday through Thursday evenings. 

Performances: June 14th, 15th, 21st, and 22nd at 8pm and June 16th at 2pm

CHARACTERS:

Fern Arable (Female, 8-10) - a young girl, daughter of Martha and John

John Arable (Male, 30s-40s) - Fern's father, Martha's Husband

Martha Arable (Female, 30s-40s) - Fern's mother, John's wife

Avery Arable (Male, 10-14) - Fern's older brother, son of Martha and John

Homer Zuckerman (Male, 30s-40s) - Fern's uncle

Edith Zuckerman (Female, 30s-40s) - Fern's aunt, Homer's wife.

Lurvy (Male, 20s-30s) - A hired hand on the Arable farm

Wilbur (Male, 8-12) - a pig

Templeton (Male, 16+) - a rat

Charlotte (Female, 20s-30s) - a spider

Goose, Gander, Sheep, Lamb (Any gender, any age) - Farm animals

Chorus (Any gender, any age) - Reporter, Photographer, Spectators, Judges, Fairgoers, Announcer, Uncle (a pig), Spiders.
