	HOMOS, OR EVERYONE IN AMERICA

	by Jordan Seavey

	Oct 18-Nov 9, directed by Clyde Simon

	 

	Homos, or Everyone in America by Jordan Seavey, directed by Clyde
Simon, is told through interweaving glimpses into the life of an
everyday couple unexpectedly confronted by a vicious hate crime.  The
play is a fearless, often funny, heart-on-its-sleeve examination of
the moments that can bring two people together – or pull them
apart.  (Ohio premiere.)

	 

	Auditions will consist of readings in pairs from the script, which is
written in a unique and interesting overlapping / interweaving style
– an exciting approach to the language of dialogue.

	 

	Roles: 3 MALES, 1 FEMALE

	The Writer: Male, Caucasian, ages from late twenties to early
thirties.

	The Academic: Male, Latino, a grad student, ages from late twenties
to early thirties.

	(The Writer and The Academic are the play’s central characters /
couple.)

	Dan:  A friend, male, ethnically ambiguous, could be Greek, Latino,
Italian, Middle Eastern. Who knows, he’s adopted.  Thirty-ish.

	Laila:  A stranger, female, any race but Caucasian, thirty-ish.

	 

	Production dates:  Opens Fri, Oct 18 and runs Thurs-Sat through Nov
9 (four weekends).  

	 

	 
*** All roles receive a stipend Rehearsals will begin early September.

	 
 

	SHAKESPEARE’S R & J 

	an adaptation by Joe Calarco

	 

	Aug 30-Sep 21 (Thurs-Sat), directed by Cory Molner

	In a boys' boarding school, four students discover the forbidden text
of Shakespeare’s play and secretly enact the play in an athletic
deluge of adolescent agitation, terror, and fierce desires that
parallel their own lives.

	 

	Roles:  

	Student 1: Romeo, etc.

	Student 2: Juliet, Benvolio, Friar John, etc.

	Student 3: Mercutio, Lady Capulet, Friar Lawrence, etc.

	Student 4: Tybalt, Nurse, Balthasar, etc. 

	 

	4 MALES THAT CAN PLAY IN THE RANGE OF HIGH SCHOOL AGE. All must have
at least an introductory grasp of Shakespeare's work and language. A
background in stage movement or stage combat is preferred. Actors must
be comfortable with portraying on-stage same-sex intimacy choreography
and moments of staged violence.

	 

	*Sides will be provided. It is suggested that you familiarize
yourself with the text and rhythm of the original Romeo and Juliet. 

	 

	*** All roles receive a stipend. Rehearsals begin mid-July.
