> the 13th amendment's tie to modern slavery as it relates to the prison
> system. These diverse plays dig into and ignite a questioning of our
> current social political terrain.

> About TERRENCE SPIVEY
Terrence Spivey is founding director of Powerful Long Ladder.  He was
artistic director for Karamu House, the nation’s oldest African American
theatre, for over 12 years and directed some of its most acclaimed plays
while bringing the theatre back to national prominence. As a freelancer, he
 has directed acclaimed productions such as “Bootycandy” at
Convergence-Continuum and “Objectively/Reasonable: A Community Response to
the Shooting of Tamir Rice, 11/22/14”. He also received numerous accolades
including “Best Director” for Best of Cleveland 2017.

Powerful Long Ladder, a new theatre company, focused on the African
American experience. The company recently collaborated with Playwrights
Local with Ernesta Jefferson’s “Thiz Girlz Lyfe”.  Past productions
includes James Baldwin’s “The Amen Corner” and “Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar
and Grill”.
