Avenue Arts Marketplace & Theatre announces auditions for AFTERGLOW!

Located at 324 Cleveland Ave. NW Canton, Ohio 44702

SYNOPSIS: 

“Afterglow” is a raw, one-act play exploring the emotional, intellectual, and physical connections between three men and the broader implications within their relationships.
Josh and Alex, a married couple in an open relationship, invite Darius to share their bed one night.  When a new intimate connection begins to form, all three men must come to terms with their individual definitions of love, loyalty, and trust as futures are questioned, relationships are shaken, and commitments are challenged.

Afterglow is presented by special arrangement with Evan Bernardin Productions, LLC

Auditions will be held on Tuesday, October 1st and Wednesday, October 2nd from 7-9pm
Callbacks (if necessary) will take place on October 3rd from 7-9pm

All auditioners are asked to come prepared to cold read from the script. We also ask that you bring a current headshot and resume with you to auditions. 

At this time, there are no stipends and/or AEA contracts being offered!

Performances: February 14th, 15th, 21st and 22nd at 8pm and February 16th at 2pm.

CHARACTERS:

Josh (male, any ethnicity, late 20s-early 30s) - married to Alex. Theater director who comes from wealth, but is unfazed by it. Manhatten native. Sexy and confident, but not to the point in which he loses awareness of his own self-worth. He likes to be in control and demands a lot of attention. He is a romantic and is seductive. He is manipulative, but not in a malevolent way. He is extremely sensitive, but it is not immediately obvious
This role requires full nudity, sexual content, mature language and drug use (vaping)

Alex (male, any ethnicity, late 20s-early 30s) - chemistry student who grew up on a farm in rural Pennsylvania who is frustrated with his job. He is somewhat ashamed of his humble upbringing and has worked to mask it, especially after marrying Josh and coming into his wealth, which has made him slightly spoiled. He is deliberate in his actions and speech. Nothing he does or says is accidental. He is pointedly articulate.
This role requires full nudity, sexual content, mature language and drug use (vaping)

Darius (male, any ethnicity, late 20s-early 30s) - massage therapist who was born in Trenton, New Jersey, but grew up in Portland, Oregon. He suffers from low self-esteem and is intent upon pleasing those around him, often putting the needs of others before his own. He identifies as a healer, someone who dispels pain. He is lonely, and is frustrated with trying to make friendships and romantic relationships work in New York City.
