EVENT:  Results of the Dover Players 10 Minute Play Competition!  

 

July 19-21 featured the performances of a variety of twelve 10 minute plays
that were the finalists from over 65 international plays submitted to Dover
Players.  Six plays were performed on Fri., July 19 and six plays were
performed on Sat., July 20. The top 3 plays from Fri. and the top 3 plays
from Sat. evening performances, as voted by the audience, competed on Sun.,
July 21.  These 6 plays were critiqued by 3 judges not affiliated with Dover
Players or the playwrights.  Award certificates were presented to Best
Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Costumes, and Best Creative Writing
- the playwright award.  The playwright award included a framed certificate,
monetary gift and a picture of the Dover Players director and cast who
performed the winning play.  Dover Players presented a People's Choice Award
for the favorite play of our audiences. 

 

 

*  July 19 - Friday night's results: The top 3 plays (as voted by the
audience) that moved on to the finale on Sunday were: 

*        DEATH OF A SNOWMAN by Daniel Guyton (GA), 

*        YOU HAVEN'T CHANGED A BIT by Donna Hoke (NY), and 

*        LOVESICK by Neil Donnelly (OH) 

 

*  July 20 - Saturday night's results: The top 3 plays (as voted by the
audience) that moved on to the finale on Sunday were: 

*        EDDIE AND EDNA by Donald Loftus (NY), 

*        SUPER INTERVIEW by Neil Donnelly (OH) and 

*        A BOX OF ASHES by Evan Guilford Blake (GA)

 

 

*  July 21 - Finale: Sunday People's Choice results:  

 

            The People's Choice winner (audience favorite) of the Dover
Players 10 Minute Play Experience was: 

*        LOVESICK by Neil Donnelly (OH), Directed by Tim Peebles, With Emily
Taylor, Jarrod Vullo and Mike Attali.

 

                        In second place for the People's Choice Award is: 

*        DEATH OF A SNOWMAN by Daniel Guyton (GA), Directed by Mike Attali,
With Megan McCarthy and Tim Peebles.

 

In third place for the People's Choice Award is: 

*        EDDIE AND EDNA by Donald Loftus (NY), Directed by Greg Lavelle with
Jake Phelps, Tim Jones, and Debra Kirkby

 

 

*  Thank you to our 3 judges for the Dover Players 10 Minute Play Experience
- Ben Gavitt, John Cox and Carson Coombs. Their choices were:

Best Actor: Tim Jones (EDDIE AND EDNA, YOU HAVEN'T CHANGED A BIT)
Best Actress: Emily Taylor (LOVESICK)
Best Creative Writing (Playwright Award): Neil Donnelly (LOVESICK)
Best Director: Lisa Carter (SUPER INTERVIEW)
Best Costumes: Director, Adam Leventhal and Cast, Jackie Kelly, Colleen
Crowley, Kris Crowley, Mike Podgor of (A BOX OF ASHES)

 

A bit about our top six plays as performed on Sunday, July 21..

 

YOU HAVEN'T CHANGED A BIT (directed by Greg Lavelle)

Lottie has never been to a high school reunion; Len has been to them all.
Their 70th is a first for them both.

 

DEATH OF A SNOWMAN (directed by Michael Attali) 

A snowman and a little girl discuss the afterlife in this existential
Yuletide comedy.

 

EDDIE AND EDNA (directed by Greg Lavelle)

Sometimes it becomes a struggle to sort out the real from the imagined.
Sometimes, even those closest cannot help.

 

LOVESICK (directed by Tim Peebles)

At the Institute, some time in the not too distant future, Tom and Marybeth
find that love among coworkers does not always work out.

 

SUPER INTERVIEW (directed by Lisa Carter)

Mr. Melvin interviews Mrs. Smith for an important position in his company,
but it seems that Smith's super qualifications might not be enough to win
the job.

 

A BOX OF ASHES (directed by Adam Leventhal)

A man and a woman seek the help of a psychic to discover the reason a spirit
seems to be present in the woman's house and, in the process, discover a
surprising revelation.
