*Looking for Musicians and Vocalist Collaborators!*

Looking for instrumentalists and vocalists to experiment with some music
performance during a two-week artist residency at Maelstrom Collaborative
Arts from August 26th-September 8th.

*PROJECT INFO*

Collaborators will work with words and sounds artist, Meredith L. King, who
will be in residence at Maelstrom Collaborative Arts (formerly Theatre
Ninjas) for two weeks to explore musical improvisation and theatricality
with instrumentalists and vocalists.

The residency will explore the question: How can theatricality enhance and
expand a music-making practice? (Or how can you integrate theatre skills
into music making in such a way that both art-forms are forced to stretch
and grow?) Collaborators will bring ideas to life using jamming and
improvisation as well as pre-planned music arrangement.

The styles of music we’ll be (loosely) playing with could be described as

a) cheeky funk and its coded language,

b) 90s-style r&b (with an eye to honoring its humor and extraness)

c) and outsider/alt hip- hop

Think Parliament Funkadelic meets Scott Bradlee’s Saturday Morning Slow
Jams (Duck Tales Theme Song Edition) meets Peaches.

*WHEN & WHERE...*

Rehearsals will take place largely on weekday evenings and weekend
afternoons from August 26th-September 8th. Participants do not have to be
available for all days, but a fair amount of availability would be awesome. All
rehearsals will take place at Maelstrom Collaborative Arts (5403 Detroit
Ave, Cleveland OH.)

*SEEKING MUSICIANS & VOCALISTS*

· Instrumentalists of any sort will be considered (non- traditional and
electronic instruments welcome! Drummer/percussionists appreciated
especially.)

· Vocalists of any/all ranges considered

· Must be able to learn music by ear

· Able to or excited to try musical improvisation

Though this project might very well expand, it is currently in
experiment-phase and welcomes people who are excited to embrace the
experimental magic!
