	CASTING NOTICE - STAGED READING

	PLAYWRIGHTS LOCAL

	==================================================

	Playwrights Local [1]
seeks a variety of actors for an upcoming staged reading of
‘Tribunal’, a new full length play by Mark Milo Kessler, to be
directed by Christine McBurney. The reading will be presented as part
of the Fall Roundtable Series of New Works [2].

Actors would need to be available for the public staged reading on
Wednesday September 18
th
, at 7pm at Waterloo Arts
, as well as for at least one rehearsal in the preceding week.

	ABOUT THE PLAY:

Following his combat service in World War II, lawyer Richard Parkman
joins the prosecution team at the Nuremberg Trial. Melanie Ferguson, a
hard-edged war correspondent, drags refugee and linguist Arthur
Borovitz to Parkman because she knows the Tribunal is desperate for
translators. When Dr. Hannelore Schneider tries to rob him one night,
Arthur offers her a job helping him translate documents. Hannelore is
a devout Nazi, but she is also an intellectual. Parkman, increasingly
desperate to understand how such cultured people could commit such
horrible acts, summons her for interrogation. The experience leaves
him with a crushing responsibility, including a secret that propels
him into a future that promises to be nearly unbearable.

	AVAILABLE ROLES:

RICHARD PARKMAN – male, 30-50. A lawyer from southern Mississippi,
USA, and part of the prosecution team before the International
Military Tribunal in Nuremberg.

MELANIE FERGUSON – female, 30-50. A freelance journalist, with the
required hard shell and insatiable curiosity.

DR. HANNELORE SCHNEIDER – female, 30-50. A devout and
highly-educated National Socialist (Nazi) trying to survive the
humiliation of defeat.

ARTHUR BOROWITZ – male, 30-50. Trained as an engineer, and one of
only 100 or so “Special Squad” members to survive the war. Despite
his horrific experience, he is generally good natured, quick to smile,
generous.

	ADDITIONAL CHARACTERS:

Two men and one woman of any age to play a variety of roles
throughout the play.

Interested actors should send a headshot and theatrical resume
to: gsmith at playwrightslocal.org [3]
