[NEohioPAL] Auditions for "UnwRapping Santa, " presented by the Canal Fulton Players!

Announcing Auditions for “UnwRapping Santa,” a brand new musical production by the Canal Fulton Players!

All auditions will be held in the ballroom at Raintree Golf and Event Center, 4350 Mayfair Rd, Uniontown, OH, 44685. Sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050B4CADA92DABFC1-auditions

For dancers, Auditions will be on September 9th, from 7:00pm until 8:30pm. Please come in dance sneakers, jazz shoes, or tennis shoes and be prepared to learn a short routine.
For Singers, Auditions will be on September 9th, from 8:30pm until 10:00pm. (anyone under 18 is invited to audition first.) Please come prepared to sing 32 bars of any Christmas song. You may sing acapella, or bring a phone or ipod to hook up to our speaker to play accompaniment.
For Kids under 10 years of age, auditions will be on September 17th, from 7:00pm until 8:30pm. Please come prepared to play a fun acting game!
For Non-singing roles, auditions will be on September 17th, front 8:30pm until 10:00pm. (anyone under 18 is invited to audition first.) Please be prepared to do a cold reading.

Listed below are the speaking roles for the show. Characters who also sing are noted in the character description. Most of our characters ages and genders can be changed or altered, if we find someone who fits the role well. 

Santa Claus: (male, age 35+) The legend himself, generous and kind, holds the ideals of Christmas close to his heart.
Grandchildren 1, 2, and 3: (any gender, age 8-15) Tech savvy, more interested in their phones than their grandfather’s old stories. 
Jeremiah James (aka JJ): (male, age 22-35) An up and coming professional rapper who publicly hates the holidays. Learns to appreciate Christmas for what it’s really about and ultimately saves the day. This role will be rapping – however, the rap will be written for you. You do not need to freestyle. 
Carol: (female, age 14-40) Santa and Joy’s personal assistant. A fast talker, a little gullible, extremely sweet and caring. 
Jacob Marley: (any age, any gender) Santa’s personal tailor.  A little like Tim Gunn. Professional and fashion forward. *Singing Role, tenor. Dancing encouraged, but not required.
Kandice Kane: (any age, any gender) Jacob Marley’s intern. Flighty but extremely fashion forward. Smart but doesn’t show it. *Singing Role, high alto/low soprano. Dancing encouraged, but not required. 
Vaughn Winkle: (any age, any gender) Vocal Coach for Santa. Teaches JJ how to laugh and spread joy. Speaks with a heavy german or polish accent. *Singing Role, flexible.
Frosty: (any age, any gender) Head of Flight communication for Santa and his sleigh. Total hipster, uses lingo like “OG” and “brosef.” This role will perform a piece of Spoken Word.
Joy: (any age, female) Head of Public Relations and Marketing for Santa. Very detailed, highly professional, slightly neurotic. 
Sarah: (any gender, under 13) A good child who sits on Santa’s lap.
Bobby (any gender, under 15) A greedy child who sits on Santa’s lap.
Twin 1 and 2 (any gender, under 17) Two children who are obnoxious and greedy. They almost make JJ give up on his mission. *Singing roles, flexible. Dancing encouraged, but not required. 
Mrs. Claus (female, age 35+) Appropriately nicknamed the “Big Guns.” She’s tough and fierce, intelligent, but also incredibly kind and caring.
Jamie (any gender, any age) Caretaker of the children at the orphanage. A natural parent. Loves Christmas and loves all the children in the home immensely. 
Justin (any gender, under 14): A boy in the orphanage.
Jenna (any gender, under 14) A girl in the orphanage.
Michael/Molly (and gender, age 3-7) A small child, sweet, a little shy, but truly embodies the spirit of Christmas. This role is for our youngest actors and actresses. The dialogue is simple, one word lines, and will be helped by the other cast members. Should be comfortable being held by Jamie.

We are also looking for a cast of dancers and singers to be in the chorus. These individuals can be any age or gender, and should be able to perform a few short dance routines, fill in as extras in scenes, and sing songs with a chorus. We are looking to cast 3-12 individuals for the chorus.

Performances will be held at Raintree Golf and Event Center, November 22-24, 29- December 1, 2019.
