WUAL:  CALL forPlaywrights and Creative Writers Competition

Seeking playwrights /creative writers for special, inspirational “Miracles, Magic and Makeovers”  project.

 

Rationale:  Watch the local and national news. Read theInternet. The media do not seem to address solutions to problems the communityand country continue to face.  The mediaseem to perpetuate and exacerbate society’s negative issues by broadcasting andmagnifying society’s “uglies.”

There is growingevidence that community members and the general public seem to be  tired, agitated and frustrated with theconditions.  However, they do not seem toknow what to do or how to counteract the negative energies and be able tocontribute what they can to effect positive change within themselves, theirfamilies and neighborhood.

“A Brand New WUALDay! Miracles, Magic and Makeovers” attempts to provide the higher levelnon-traditional thinking, principles and practices individuals can use to makesuch change.

 

Wake Up and Live’sActors’ Studio (WUAL) is launching its “Miracles, Magic and Makeovers” projectand inviting playwrights / creative writers to submit  7 - 10-minute inspirational scenariosto be performed in various venues.

 

Submissions should:

1.       Address the Concept:  Turn Your Life into One of Joy Health,Wealth and Happiness!

       (What story is character telling?)




2.        Scenarios should have only 1 – 3 characters.
3.       Be suitable to be presented on “Wake Up AndLive With the Arts” YouTube show and / or on stage, and / or in         workshops.
4.       Be inspirational and uplifting.   
5.       Depict challenges or conflicts  the character/s  is facing, overcoming, or has overcome whichallow him/her to now        live an enlightened life on a higher level.
6.       Suggested Universal principles andpractices to address Wellness  issues:

          .  Physical,Mental, Emotional and / or Spiritual health

          . Family and other other relationships (love, work, social, toxicity)

          . Abuse (Domestic, Addictions, Employment, Elder, Etc.)

          . Financial and Material
7.      Offer a  non-traditional,thought-provoking approach to answers and problem-solving strategies to address       life changes.8.  Typed in current, standard play writing format.
 

Selected entries:
1.     If selected, scenarios will be performed on “Wake UpAnd Live With the Arts” and in live performance and        workshops.
2.     Stipend will be received from net proceeds of liveperformances. 

3.   $12.00 Entry fee required.

Sue produces,directs and hosts  “Wake Up And Live With the Arts” YouTube showwhich celebrates and showcases the diversity of performing andcultural artists. Sue’sprofessional acting credits include  appearances in Cleveland area theatres, including co-starring with Leon Bibb in A.R.Gurney’s Love Letters.  She has directed My Big FatDysfunctional Office, by Gary Webster, a commissioned  play,numerous "PlayActs" Performances, staged readings andfull productions, including Vickie Williams, “Commemorative,” and producing“Black and Blue Rhapsody,” by Richard Asbury.
