*She Loves Me Auditions*

book by Joe Masteroff, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and music by Jerry Brick

*SYNOPSIS*

*She Loves Me* is a euphoric romantic comedy with a soaring score. Amalia
and Georg work together at a modest Hungarian parfumerie and have disliked
each other from the very beginning. He thinks she’s stuck up, and she
thinks he’s arrogant and mean. But each rapturously writes to a
lonely-hearts pen pal when the workday is done, and it doesn’t take long
for the audience to see that they’re in love without realizing it.
Inevitably through some of the most iconic songs in the musical theatre
canon ("Vanilla Ice Cream", "She Loves Me", "Will He Like Me?"), Georg and
Amalia discover the truth as well and rejoice in their love for each other
at the story’s sweet and musically delightful conclusion.

*Where: *106 Water St, Chardon, OH 44024

*What to Prepare:* Please bring a resume, headshot and 32 bars of a song
not from the show, prepare your sheet music for an accompanist. No, a
capella or taped music. If invited to callbacks, scene work, and further
music will be given.

*Rehearsals:* Can begin as early as Nov 3, 2019

*Performances:* Jan 31-Feb 16, 2019

*Casting Note: *Any race, gender, age, body type, or other identities are
encouraged to audition and will be considered equally in casting. GLTG does
not offer union contracts and performers are volunteers.

*CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS:*

*MEN*:

*Arpad Laszlo*: Character Age: 14 to 20, Baritone, Vocal range top: E4,
Vocal range bottom: Bb2, Delivery boy at Maraczek's Parfumerie. His
exuberance is infectious and commitment to his job remarkable. He is
ambitious and adorable.

*Ladislav Sipos*: Character Age: 45 to 55, Baritone, Vocal range top: E4,
Vocal range bottom: A2, Not the brightest employee at Maraczek's
Parfumerie. A confidant to Georg, he is an optimistic family man who looks
like a huggable father.

*Steven Kodaly*: Character Age: 25 to 30, Tenor, Vocal range top: A4, Vocal
range bottom: B2. A well respected and liked employee at Maraczek's
Parfumerie. Though he is considered dapper and occasionally charming, he is
more of a shallow womanizer.

*Mr. Maraczek*: Character Age: 55 to 65, Baritone, Vocal range top: C4,
Vocal range bottom: B2, Owner of Maraczek's Parfumerie. With a commanding
presence, his dedication to the trade is rivaled only by his faithfulness
to his wife.

*Georg Nowack*: Character Age: 25 to 40, Tenor/ Baritone, Vocal range top:
F4, Vocal range bottom: B2, An established employee of Maraczek's
Parfumerie, he resembles a hopeless romantic. He is like the son Mr.
Maraczek never had.

*Waiter*: *Waiter*: Age: 40 to 50, Tenor., Vocal range top B4, Vocal range
bottom: B2, An eccentric and over-zealous waiter insistent on creating a
romantic atmosphere.

*Busboy*: Non-Singing Role. Clumsy at his job he makes the waiter’s life a
nightmare.

*Mr. Keller*: Non-Singing Role. A highly secretive Private investigator

*Shoppers, Café Visitors, Carolers*: All voice parts needed.

*WOMEN*:

*Amalia Balash*: Character Age: 20 to 35, Soprano, Vocal range top: B5,
Vocal range bottom: C4, The eager new employee at Maraczek's Parfumerie.
Despite being a skilled saleswoman, she easily becomes intimated and
nervous. Attractive, bright, and a lover of literature.

*Ilona Ritter*: Character Age: 25 to 30, Mezzo-Soprano, Vocal range top:
E5, Vocal range bottom: F#3, Employed at Maraczek's Parfumerie. She is sexy
and learned in the ways of romance but longing for something more from the
game of love.

*Shoppers, Café Visitors, Carolers*: All voice parts needed.
