Gospel Meets Symphony Choir seeking members for GMS 2.0

The Akron Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce the formation of Gospel Meets Symphony 2.0, the first junior gospel choir in the 25-year history of the Gospel Meets Symphony Choir.

Gospel Meets Symphony 2.0 is designed for performers ages 12-18 to work with the Gospel Meets Symphony Choir under the direction of Choirmaster Jonathon Turner. The junior choir will consist of 30 to 40 members and will perform during the Akron Symphony Orchestra's annual Gospel Meets Symphony concert.

An informational session for interested students and parents will be held on October 23 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, which is located at 263 E. Mill St. in Akron. The session will include an overview of the program, along with the requirements and expectations for participating in Gospel Meets Symphony 2.0.

Gospel Meets Symphony, which has been an Akron tradition since 1994, annually performs some of the world's most uplifting, spirit-filled gospel and classical music under the direction of Akron Symphony Orchestra Music Director Christopher Wilkins and Gospel Meets Symphony Choirmaster Jonathon Turner. Gospel Meets Symphony will be February 8, 2020, at 7:30 p.m. at EJ Thomas Performing Arts Hall.
