So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the
past.”
About the Show
Directed by Mark Cipra
Adapted for the stage by Simon Levy
Based off of the novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald

The Great Gatsby tells the story of Jay Gatsby, a self-made millionaire,
passionately pursues the elusive Daisy Buchanan. Nick Carraway, a young
newcomer to Long Island, is drawn into their world of obsession, greed and
danger. The breathtaking glamour and decadent excess of the Jazz Age come
to the stage in F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel and in Simon Levy's
adaptation, approved by the Fitzgerald Estate.

The Great Gatsby is produced through special arrangement with Dramatists
Play Service, Inc.

Performance Information

Mar 6-22, 2020. Fri & Sat at 7:30PM; Sun at 2:00PM
Roles Available

Nick Carraway (25-35). Newly arrived from Minnesota to learn the bond
business, Nick is also Daisy's cousin. Honest, tolerant, and inclined to
reserve judgment, Nick serves as a confidant for those with secrets.

Jay Gatsby (25-35). Charming and friendly but deeply flawed and
dishonest, with an extraordinary optimism and power to transform his
dreams into reality.

Tom Buchanan (25-35). Daisy’s immensely rich husband, knew Nick at Yale.
Powerfully built and hailing from a socially solid old family, he is an
arrogant, hypocritical bully. His social attitudes are laced with racism
and sexism.

Daisy Buchanan (20-30). Described as “flawless porcelain”, Daisy is
sardonic and cynical, and behaves superficially to mask her pain at her
husband’s constant infidelity. Now a socialite, she loves both Tom and
Gatsby. Aristocratic (very light) Kentucky accent.

Jordan Baker (20-30). Daisy’s close friend since high school, a woman
with whom Nick becomes romantically involved. A competitive golfer,
Jordan represents one of the “new women” - cynical, boyish and
self-centered. Aristocratic (very light) Kentucky accent.

Myrtle Wilson (25-35). Tom’s lover, whose exhausted husband George owns
a rundown auto shop. Has a fierce vitality and desperately looks for a
way to improve her situation.

George Wilson (25-40). Myrtle’s husband. He loves and idealizes Myrtle,
and is devastated by her affair.

Wolfsheim (40-65). Gatsby’s friend, a prominent figure in organized
crime. Gatsby's partner in bootlegging.

Some of the following characters may be doubled and we may cast a few
people simply for the party scenes.

Lucille McKee (25-50). Silly and vapid.

Chester McKee (25-50). Snobby and effeminate.
