Rabbit Run Theater seeking a Technical Director/Production Manager

 

JOB OVERVIEW: The Technical Director/Production Manager reports to the
Executive Director as a seasonal (mid-May through late-August), independent
contractor position working approximately 15 – 20 hours during a regular
week and well over 40 hours during a tech week. Salary range is commensurate
with experience, and is highly competitive based on comparable theatres in
the region. 


The Technical Director/Production Manager manages and implements all
technical aspects of productions excluding costumes for RRT's
five-production season. Working with an assistant, the TD/PM is responsible
for the full scenic design and build, and oversees a scenic artist,
properties mistress, lighting and sound designers for each production.


Candidates must possess proficient technical skills in the following areas:
sound design/sound technician, lighting design/master electrician work, plus
strong scenic design/set construction skills. While RRT has a whirlwind
production schedule with the expectation of long, intense hours during tech
week for each production, we are a close-knit, supportive group and take
great pride in the quality of our work.

 

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION: Implement all technical aspects of productions •
Manage scene shop and maintain its organization • Maintain tools and
equipment • Maintain technical aspects of performance venue • Work with
designers to ensure they design within budget and organizational capacity •
Oversee lighting and sound set-up • Design and build sets for all
productions • Recruit, engage, and oversee community volunteers

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Exceptional project management skills • Strong
communication skills • Ability to collaborate and be a team player •
Proficient technical skills in the following areas: • Sound design/sound
technician + Lighting design/master electrician + Scenic design/set
construction • Ability to lift and carry up to 70lbs • Experience managing
expenses and budgets  

 

EXPERIENCE:  Preferably 2 years of experience working in a small scale
theatre • Proven track record of success in shop organization • Some staff
management and administrative experience • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
experience preferred
