[NEohioPAL] Casting - Workshop & Staged Reading - Nov 2019/Feb 2020

CASTING NOTICE



Playwrights Local <http://www.playwrightslocal.org/> seeks actors for a
workshop process and staged reading in our 2019-2020 Play Lab
<http://www.playwrightslocal.org/2019-2020-play-lab/>. The actors will work
closely with director Erik Andrews and playwright Greg A. Smith on Sanzaru,
a new play in progress.



3 actors are sought for 3-5 working sessions involving structured ensemble
exploration fueled by images and themes from the play. The playwright will
be present and will revise the material based on this process. The final
outcome will be a public staged reading at Playwrights Local.



Actors will be paid a modest honorarium.



OPEN ROLES



Actor 1: Female - Caucasian, any age



Actor 2: Female - Non-Caucasian, possibly under 30 but any age is fine



Actor 3:  Male - Non-Caucasian, under 40



Actors *should* (but not necessary) have some physical and ensemble
experience (Grotowski, Viewpoints, Suzuki, M. Chekhov, etc…).

Synopsis: Three strangers wake up locked in an unfamiliar room - one unable
to see, one unable to hear, one unable to speak - with no knowledge of how
they got there. With traditional communication impossible, they must
struggle to find other ways to understand and overcome their bleak
situation; even when doing so begins to reveal some uncomfortable personal
truths.
