The Musical “Ragtime” at Spotlights Theater

November 8-23, 2019

 

Broadview Heights Spotlights Theater presents the musical“Ragtime” November 8-23, 2019. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m. andthere is a Sunday matinee on November 17 at 3:00 p.m.  All shows will be in the Spotlights’ newaddition, 9543 Broadview Road (next to the Police Station). Tickets are $17 foradults and $14 for seniors and students. They can be purchased online at www.broadview-heights-spotlights.org , Walk-ins are also accepted if seats are available. 

 

At the dawn of a new century, everything is changing...and anything is possible. Set in the volatile melting pot ofturn-of-the-century New York, three distinctly American tales are woventogether – that of a stifled upper-class wife, a determined Jewish immigrantand a daring young Harlem musician – united by their courage, compassion andbelief in the promise of the future. Together, they confront history's timelesscontradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope anddespair... and what it means to live in America.

 

“Ragtime” is written by Terrence McNally with music by StephenFlaherty, and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens. It is based on the novel “Ragtime” byE. L. Doctorow. The Spotlights’ production is directed by Tim Anderson, MusicDirected by Ryan Bergeron, and produced by Jean Brennan and Diane Frendak.
