*The Dark Room at CPT on November 12th*
*This month: LIVE recording of The Mystery of Easter Island by Justin
Glanville and Open Mic!*

The Dark Room is a place where writers take center stage and their work has
a chance to grow. The Dark Room is an ongoing event held on the second
Tuesday of each month. The Dark Room affords emerging and veteran
playwrights the space and resources to develop new works. It offers a venue
to workshop plays, novels, poems, or any other written work in a
supportive, yet critical environment.

*7:00pm: *Sign-up begins for writers and actors (space is limited). Writers
can bring up to 10 pages of work to be read; actors will be cast on the
spot!

*7:30pm: *Featured live recording of Episode 3 of  “The Mystery of Easter
Island” by Justin Glanville.

*8:15pm:* Open Mic Session readings begin

*ABOUT THE FEATURED WORK:* Join us for a live recording of Episode 3 ("The
Other Half of the Sky") of a new audio fiction podcast written by Justin
Glanville, directed and produced by Mindy Childress Herman.* The Mystery of
Easter Island *is a serialized historical fiction podcast based on the
extraordinary life of ethnographer Katherine Routledge. In 1914, Routledge
built a ship and traveled to Easter Island in an attempt to decipher the
culture and language of the island.  In Episode 3, Katherine, her husband
Scoresby, and their crew must contend with wild storms, damage to their
ship, and rising interpersonal tensions, while Katherine fights for respect
from her all-male crew.
*FEATURING:* Christine McBurney, Brian Pedaci, Cat Kenney, David Munnell,
Tom Horton, Andy Tarr, Josh Brown and Robert Hawkes.

*ABOUT THE  CREATIVE TEAM: *

Justin Glanville is a public radio and television reporter/producer for
ideastream, the PBS and NPR affiliate in Cleveland, and has previously
worked as a reporter for The Associated Press, as an urban planner, and an
independent producer for Studio 360 with Kurt Andersen. His pilot script
for *The Mystery of Easter Island* was a finalist in the 2017 Austin
International Film Festival fiction podcast competition. His previous
fiction podcast, *Munchen, Minnesota*, followed a gay librarian, his
daughter, and an urban planner battling a supernatural invasion in the
Upper Midwest. You can check out more of his work at

Mindy Childress Herman is a director and producer who specializes in
collaborating with writers to develop new work in theatre, television and
audio drama. Over the past 20 years she has worked professionally as a
theatre director, producer, performer, stage manager, staff member and
board member. She directed and produced several critically-acclaimed site
specific tours for Charenton Theatre Company, where she served as Producing
Director for three seasons. Since 2007, she has been the Director of The
Dark Room at Cleveland Public Theatre, a monthly series that supports new
work by playwrights, poets and screenwriters. She previously collaborated
with Glanville on the serialized fiction podcast *Munchen, Minnesota*.




Open session readings are first come, first serve until all slots have been
